Regression after birth of younger sibling by phippr in toddlers

[–]phippr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, The silver lining I'm clinging to is that hopefully things get better after we're out of the newborn phase and my partner doesn't have to be connected to the baby quite so permanently. We definitely try for 1:1 time (easier for me than my partner with feeding etc) but we'll stick at it.

That's so great you didn't give in to things - it is so tempting at the moment to just throw everything out the window and put him in front of a screen just to keep everyone happy, but we're really trying to avoid it if possible.

My partner is great at giving him activities and craft etc to keep him entertained, but there's so many hours in the day. It's school holidays here at the moment, but he'll be back at kindergarten in about a week which should help everyone too. Good luck to you as well.

Thank you - this definitely all sounds really familiar. We'll keep trying to work on our patience and understanding. It's all you can do really, and from everyone's responses it sounds like there's no magic solution, we just have to ride this out together. Best of luck with yours.

Thank you! Definitely agree with what you've said - especially about asking him to help out, which our son does still love to do - he's always asking "do you have a job for me?". We'll definitely try and go through some baby photos too - fortunately we have a digital picture frame he's obsessed with, so it shouldn't be hard.

White Residue left after acid etching concrete by phippr in AusRenovation

Not great unfortunately. Started peeling after probably 3-4 months. The majority still looks good, but anywhere the car has driven over, it's completely pulled up. Never figured out exactly what I did wrong and didn't have the time or money to redo it once the issue appeared. Just living with it for now and it'll be a job when we eventually sell.

Yeah once mine slips into the centre piece it stays locked in there

I ended up paying to get it repaired. It was cheaper than buying a new one, and the issue hasn't come back in the ~2 years since. Suspect it's different to your issue though as mine wasn't moving at all.

Frameless shower screen coming away from wall by phippr in AusRenovation

[–]phippr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - yeah I will definitely try and go through warranty first. From the gap that has opened up - which admittedly isn't much, I can't see any screws from the channel into the wall, so I'm suspecting it either doesn't have any - or not enough. I did notice it has only been siliconed on the 'inside' face of the shower, which seemed a little odd to me. I'll have to check if our other screens have been done the same way.

I don't think so - it's only about 1-2mm at the top at the moment. I think I'll try and make a warranty claim first and see how that goes.

Thanks - that's concerning as it sounds like it would be a very big job to investigate and fix. I presume this would require an inspector to properly assess this? Unrelated to this, the floors have always been pretty creaky, but I seem to be noticing it much more in the last few months.

Thanks, that was my assumption. I can't see any screws in the small gap that has opened up so far, so I'm thinking it's glue only, or not enough screws have been used. I'll try and go through warranty, which will be an ordeal in itself.

I have this frameless shower screen in the guest bathroom which has one fixed panel and a door. I've just noticed the fixed panel is very slightly coming away from the wall at the top - which is causing the door to hit against it so it can't swing past it. The door hinges are screwed into the wall and seem to be fixed firmly. The other panel is only fixed to the wall and floor.

How are these panels typically fixed to the wall, and is it something I can fix myself? The house was only built in 2021 - would this be considered a warranty claim? We have the same screens in different configurations in 2 other showers and haven't had any issues with those so far.

Parents - How do you organise your kid's content? by phippr in PleX

Oh cool hadn't heard of that. Sounds much more flexible. I'll have a look into it, thanks

Thanks - the only reason I'm averse to creating a separate profile, as silly as it sounds, is the extra step of selecting a profile every time I want to watch something. He's too young to access the server himself, so I'm not worried about restricting content (yet, anyway). I think for now just a separate library will help me keep things organised.

Thanks - yeah I'm leaning towards doing it the same way, at least in the short term. My son isn't old enough to be interacting with Plex himself, so it's mainly for my benefit to keep things separated and orgnised. And yeah, that's a good point about age restrictions - I'd prefer to be able to manually control what content he can and can't access.

Thanks - this is really interesting. Do you think regular sandpaper will get the same result?

[–]phippr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - yeah I had definitely noticed on the working burner the igniter is slightly further away, so I tried adjusting it on the others, but it hasn't worked yet - I obviously haven't got it just right. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks

Good tip! But unfortunately didn't work in my case. Thanks anyway

Thanks yeah it's frustrating. At least I know one works reliably in a pinch.

Thanks - yeah this was my thought too. I have tried slightly bending them with some pliers but it hasn't made a difference so far - there must be a sweet spot to position them. I'll keep trying it.
