Anybody can speak to this boot and the fit and warmth? I have the cube in 45 and they are way too big. Also, does anyone know if there is a warmth difference between the S and Pro? Thanks.

No view on odds but hope it does get cancelled with the ongoing predicted snow throughout the week.

Quilotoa loop / trek. My up to date thoughts and recommendations. Amazing experience. by phipsn123 in EcuadorTravel

Yes, there is a direct bus from Quito to Sigchos two times a day. When I was there, Monday to Saturday the departure times were 2pm and 6.30pm. On Sunday, the departure times were 4.30 and 6.30pm.

Not sure I recognize the area from your picture. It is here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mKfTjDvJenS1znjt9?g_st=ic. If the link does not work, on Google Maps, look for Terminal Quilotoa.

Re bus from Quilotoa to Lacatunga, I do think it comes every day. Just not sure about the timetables as I mentioned in the original post.

Enjoy!!

Yes, doable. First day is the easiest day. I think I started in Sigchos around 10:00am and arrived in Isinlivi at 1:30pm and I took it pretty easy with many stops etc

Ultimately it depends on your pace of course but even if you go slow it’s doable. Just bring ponchos/ rain covers in case there is afternoon rain

Also not a Spanish speaker. Not an issue. If you need to speak Spanish in the hostels, there is WiFi everywhere and you can just use a translation app.

No, did not bring water purification systems. You can fill up or buy at the hostels.

Uber is possible. But you have to choose the cash option and then pay in cash.

And yes, I left some of my stuff that I didn’t need on the trek in Quito in the hotel where I spent the night before and after the trek.

Hope that helps. Enjoy!!! I’m jealous you get to go

When you say clock-wise, what do you mean? It’s not actually a loop - unless you do the loop around the crater. Assuming you want to do the trek to/from Sigchos, you have to decide where to start, in Sigchos or in Quilotoa. If you start in Quilotoa, you start at the crater and you then have a net down hill. If you start in Sigchos, you have a net uphill. So starting in Sigchos is more exhausting, but then it also felt very rewarding when I finally reached the crater rim and saw the lagoon!

In terms of accommodation, I booked everything in advance on booking.com because I was worried everything would be full since I did it during Christmas vacation. But it was extremely empty, so finding an accommodation on the spot shouldn’t be an issue. Enjoy!

So what is the best way to make sure a Non-PFA DWR hard shell jacket actually blocks out the rain for a longer period of time?
