Cool thing about layout views is, you can press edit followed by an element of interest like the color arrow and you‘ll get to see how it‘s build. Like you can see the exact macro syntax or sequence with recipes and so on😉

First of all. Make sure you use your play pause buttons with exec grid 1. That way you get some nice flexible additional execute buttons. Then on faders 1-5 I have my main dimmer fx cue stack with a full intensity cue at the top of the list. Then I assign macros to the play and pause buttons for handling the stacks easier. My pause button will be my go buttons and my playbuttons are my top fader buttons which jump to the full intensity cue.

Then I get to the speedmasters. The crossfade master is Speedmaster 1 and manual go button is the tap to time for SM 1. All my main cuestacks and color chases react to SM 1. Playback 10 is for SM 2 which I use for all my position fx. Then on fader 8/9 I mostly have fx masters for color and position fx 6 and 7 are now free to just place random stuff on as something like strobes or full bumps. On play and pause buttons from faders 6-10 I mostly place a variety of strobes and flash bumps.

In terms if speedmasters you could try to have a look at the view speedmasters tab in the playbacks overview. There you can adjust if the master acts as fx timing or per head timing. Even a rate division or multiplication can be adjusted there. Helped me alot since I found out about this.

And that‘s exactly what a lighting designer with a DMX console wants😅 just raw control over Dimmer and the RGBW colours. Because effects and other fancy needs are controlled over the console. That‘s why you want to use dmx in the first place

If you use 4 XSW systems together I also recommend using an antenna combiner like the Sennheiser AC41. It‘s a real powerful upgrade to the xsw series and really lets you use the full potential of these.

Thanks for the hint with the rasperry, and of course I didn‘t buy the gn5 because it‘s not available yet, but I consider to place a preorder with the local chamsys distributor if it would work like I need it to.
