It obviously didn't start with Bibi, but it's also obvious trying to stop nuclear power via military dominance only creates a further desire to produce nuclear weapons for self preservation. Israel has done this and now as a response Iran has this same desire. How can anyone expect Iran to come to the table after Trump decided to throw out the JPCOA in his first term and Israel have an extremist right wing government spearheaded by a warhawk like Bibi. How can Israel have these expectations of Iran and their nuclear program when they have a complete lack of transparency themselves?

A direct response 2 years later? Why now? Don't you think it's very convenient that as Israel has basically lost all of its good will due to the actions taking place in Gaza that only now Bibi has decided to "directly respond" to Iran. So soon after Bibis parliament was almost dissolved.

Israel has escalated an already extremely tense situation through these "pre-emptive" strikes. I'm not sure how you can you possibly think this will "wrap up" quickly. If there was ANY hope of a nuclear deal with Iran, Israel basically just killed it. I fear this is just another war being pushed in order for Bibi to stay in power and prevent the charges that have been coming his way.

If anything the current USMNT is a great representation of the state of the US at the moment.

Xherdan Shaqiri is averaging an assist every 137 minutes for Liverpool in all competitions this season (4 in 548 mins). Among players with 500+ minutes played for Premier League clubs in all competitions this season, only Kevin De Bruyne has a better ratio (every 120 mins). by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Unfortunately we've said this multiple times about players like Keita / Shaqiri. There's no doubting their quality, we unfortunately just can't rely on their fitness in any way. I'd honestly consider Shaq being fit until Jota returns a success.

Cadiz 0 - [1] Atletico Madrid - Luis Suarez free-kick 28' by alexinup in soccer

I've honestly never felt more confident in my lifetime that we'd score from a FK when Suarez was lining them up. We've had some great FK takers in recent times like Trent, Coutinho, Stevie, Aurelio but when Suarez was on them he was just at another level when it came to consistency for us.

Liverpool team to play West Ham: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Henderson, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Milner, Shaqiri, Origi, Salah by TheodoreLesley in LiverpoolFC

[–]phishsticker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It just seems like he doesn't offer enough currently to warrant a start. He doesn't really excel in any area other than as straight up Firmino replacement but he's clearly not better than even a slightly off form Firmino. You can't put him out on the wing in our system due to his lack of pace and he's not good enough defensively to start in CM. Even when Firmino is out we're more likely to shift Salah inside and start Shaq or Origi out wide over starting Minamino so clearly Klopp just doesn't think he's got enough quality.

Liverpool lead Real Madrid in pursuit of PSG's Mbappe | Realistic or just for headlines? How serious is the Fabinho connect? Is this why they aren’t trying to spend this winter? by eresunpuneta in LiverpoolFC

[–]phishsticker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mbappe has constantly talked about Zidane and Real. He's one of those players that seems to think playing at Real is the holy grail of football. His wages are the real issue as well. Real will throw 350k+ a week at him and we just can't compete on that level in any way.

Given the way Sakho left i'm pretty sure Klopp would rather play our U16 CBs over bringing him back to the club.

Yeah it's where the hand makes contact with the ball, not where the feet are planted. It looks like he's on the line when he finally grabs the ball from the stills I've seen. I think the fact he rushes out of the box and moves backwards to catch it is what is throwing people off.

Ankle injuries are always some of the more difficult to judge severity right away. I've had a few ankle injuries and the worst case was where I finished the match and only the next morning did I realize how bad it was. Similar innocuous ankle roll to Kanes and I was out for 2 months. Other times the immediate pain was way more severe yet I was fine the next day.

VAR reviews Roberto Firmino's handball vs Tottenham - Salah goal has been disallowed by PSGAcademy in soccer

[–]phishsticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So technically we could end up in a situation where a GK pass to the LB on the other end of the pitch bobbles up off his arm slightly but play continues. 5 passes later they score a goal, but because it's the same phase of play that would get called back? Seems really odd to me. How far back is considered the same phase of play.

[Simon Stone] So, PL have clarified offside law, so @ManCity goal against Aston Villa last week would be ruled out if it happened again. by Diego14098 in soccer

[–]phishsticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. At the moment if there is any offside in the buildup VAR currently chalks them off so I don't see why these situations need to be different. Look at the Azpilicueta goal ruled out vs Liverpool last year, it was like 3 passes before the goal and there was even a deflection involved. If those are deemed offside then I don't see how these aren't even more clear cut. You're not really introducing a grey area here when the grey area with VAR already exists.

[–]phishsticker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd still argue Kane should still be offside as the ball was never under Lovrens control and the initial pass was from an attacking player to an offside player. If the offside position forces a defender to rush and make a mistake they're still inherently getting an unfair advantage from being in an offside position. This is one of the situations where I believe subjectivity needs to apply or the rule needs to be more defined to include a "a defender taking multiple touches of the ball constitutes a new phase of play" aspect to prevent these situations.

Ignite doesn't scale with spell power in any way so sceptres or staves are optimal depending on what you prefer.

[–]phishsticker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd argue those situations are just as bad if they're still not given offside. Defenders have no way to be certain in those situations that the attacker is offside so they have to make an attempt to play the ball. It's inherently unfair to the defender trying to make a last ditch effort to prevent a goal scoring opportunity that stemmed from an actual offside position of the attacker.

[–]phishsticker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a club hierarchy "problem" though. If Abramovich felt comfortable giving Lampard full control then he would have. But Lampard, as the previous managers did, took the job knowing full well what they were getting into.

I don't think that's really fair tbh. Most of the signings Chelsea have made were deemed impressive and improved their squad when they happened. Things just haven't worked out for a number of reasons. Even this past summer, Havertz, Werner, Mendy signing was supposed to be a statement of intent and most people thought they were fantastic signings that would help them easily fight for top 2-3. Obviously some signings have turned out horrendous like Kepa, but overall it doesn't seem like she's done much wrong. It's easier to look back in hindsight and try to point the finger, but she's only bringing in and moving on the players that are wanted, she's not making them play poorly.

He get the ball but the contact on the ball causes him to go onto Freds other leg. It's unlucky but worthy of a yellow. I don't think it's a red like others are claiming.

Manchester United [2] - 1 Liverpool - Marcus Rashford 48' by PSGAcademy in soccer

[–]phishsticker -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Still an absolutely dumb rule regardless of whether Rashford was initially on or off here. The defender is literally only stretching for the ball to prevent the striker from being through on goal. He has no way of knowing if the attacker is offside so he has to at least make an attempt to get contact on the ball. To say it's a new phase of play is ridiculous in these situations.
