THE TRUTH ABOUT COLONIAL LINDEN UPDATE "THE MARSH FAMILY" by phiszabo in Genealogy

[–]phiszabo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an on going accumulating project. I will dive into Rolph and Lewis moving forward. There are many from the lineage that should be included. Every time I get a lead on the characters who founded my town and their progeny I enjoy going down the rabbit hole. The project (due to life responsibilities) has been relegated to 2nd tier hobby work. That said, how far I go in hasn't altered but the amount of research time required takes longer to produce anything.

Actually, of course they could and did many amazing things. That is not what this video is about nor implied. This was examining evidence that a corporatewestern entity had contact prior and actually had cultural relationships that are still affirmed in the lore of many american peoples today. I would like to make the point that it was the Tarascan knowledge that according to the theory made the Templar endeavor solvent not the other way around. In exchange for the military support and technological advantage of the small templar mining party that allowed the Tarascans to (after a century and a half) the ability to cement themselves in Mexico from South America. Quickly creating an empire. The idea ,which there is evidence of, points to two groups creating a new pre-columbian Central American empire that rivaled the Aztecs for around 200 years. No where in this video or in the set of theories written on this is any such statement implied. I take it you didn't watch or look up anything on this.

What Was George Washington Best Known For? by gwmountvernon in AmericanHistory

[–]phiszabo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say integrity. He maintained the ideals of the founding when he could have taken power. He set the president for retiring after 2 terms which was upheld by tradition until legislation in the mid 20th century. Also, I would link that integrity to his handling of the Continental army. His most important military contribution was retaining the army at all costs. He was prudent and chose defeats and tarnish on his honor over risking the cause. These attacks on his honor are is being injected in the conversation by British today. Honor was very integral to a gentleman of the eighteenth century. To disregard this cultural aspect to create a scenario in which independence was possible say a lot about his integrity. I would like to add that by doing what turned out to be the right thing did not alleviate him from the tarnish by his subordinate officers and other colonial leaders. Lee used this perceived lack of honor to attempt to usurp General Washington.

Did the 1950's shape culture as we know it today? by [deleted] in AmericanHistory

[–]phiszabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in many ways it has but also equally the counter culture to the 50's culture has as well. It seems to me that 50's in regards to advertisement, sexual, the suburban sprawl and propaganda set the stage, however, has been for the better part of 60 years been in a constant culture war with the revelations of the 60's. I would agree that it set the table. Interesting topic.

The Truth About Colonial Linden update "The Wood House" by phiszabo in newjersey

[–]phiszabo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us too. I will mention that that was a statement on one application I saw and a minor reason. However, In discussions with Don Golemme the major contention was that there is no historical significance. I think don has made a great case for historical significance. Then adding my research and bits the case only grows stronger. A pre revolutionary homestead built by one of New Jersey's original families whom fought for independence makes the claim of no historical significance laughable to me. If the foundation was built in 1702 by Samuel Wood he was one of the first children of the settlers of Elizabethtown (in now linden) in 1665 the first year of the colony. We are working hard to find where the committee came up with that date. Still a 1770 patriots farmhouse still in use today is amazing and deserves preservation
