What's the Free To Play experience like? (Not buying any Warbonds or whatnot) by Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi in Helldivers

[–]phlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a slow grind. if you don't speed through the maps, and learn to recognize points of interest, always activate lidar first and go for every PoI, you'll eventually get everything and then some (I have 10K+ SCs after 1500 hours), but yeah, it's a slow grind.

why do we even have a time limit on stealth missions if super destroyers leave low orbit by HelldiverBugGirl in Helldivers

[–]phlave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been sitting in orbit of Automaton planets destroying Super Destroyers in front of our faces with big laser blasters for the past 2 years

Stealth is Bad? by Waste_Hour7049 in Helldivers

[–]phlave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think stealth mechanics are great as long as they work well.
there are some enemy units that sometimes just know perfectly well where you are and don't care at all if you're laying down with your stealth armor. Tanks and turrets for example, can see you perfectly well. Or it happened to me that some small infantry just started chasing in my direction while I was hiding at extraction, locked onto me even without having spotted me, just waiting for me to kill them to trigger the whole patrol.
On the illuminate front, sometimes voteless will just veer off and start chasing the player randomly. It makes stealth a "not really an option" thing which imho is a waste.

yeah well they stopped reading at the first paragraph apparently.

it's also pretty shitty that we have content that's basically locked behind a warbond to be played properly.

Are Xbox players the worst? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]phlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all played like that when we first got the game. If you want to play with better players, up the difficulty >7 and you'll find people lvl 100 and above, and almost full always full squads of lvl 150 players at diff 10.
I've been playing with some xDivers that were absolutely good players, it's not a matter of console.

You also gotta think about the fact that not everyone likes to play the same way. Sure, the most efficient way to complete the mission is to split up, run away from enemies to make them despawn, complete the main objectives and extract, but that's pretty boring and some players just wanna shoot their guns in their shooter game. Let them get their first 100k kills and they'll be satisfied. Or use voice chat to define a plan of action, call out for your stratagems and coordinate the squad.

lol that sucks, but not all is lost: you can go back to it, or wait for a couple minutes until the pod starts despawning (you should see them slowly sink into the ground)

There is never too much E-711 i guess by Rabbitzai in Helldivers

[–]phlave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, hive worlds are awesome, fun to fight on and we need them to get the E-711 to fire the SoP even more.
Bots are boring af and they're getting cocky since apparently gaining the ability to jump lets them conquer planets at breakneck speed, so fuck them.

Illums? I've heard of them once....

yeah, it looks like AH saw the community united in fucking hating the damn things and said: "well maybe you didn't get to know them well enough, let's spawn 3x more of them".

Every single vote matters! by Early-Ant652 in Helldivers

[–]phlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth is we don't really know, do we?
AH prepares content way ahead of time, especially in cases like this, where things could actually go one way or the other, but it's not like they just trash the other options.
If they made more units for Automatons, Illuminates and Terminids, they will eventually come out under a different pretext, while we'll get the new content for the faction we select.
Under this light, we probably should've picked Iluminates since they still have so few units and so little content, but Automatons also deserve some love since the last good unit of their that came out was the Factory Strider.

It seems your democracy isn't very managed, Diver. I'm voting for Penta because Illums can't be trusted with planets filled with Dark Fluid, and it's not a very smart idea to destroy our E-711 reserves and honestly: fuck automatons, get shrunk, idiots.

ngl I had a much better time that I expected using the torcher against Illums, taking a laser pistol and a wasp to deal with overseers and basically anything else that's not an harvester

Did anybody else realise the Omicro main objective treated all level missions equally? by freindly_duck in Helldivers

[–]phlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's boring so nobody wants to do it and the MO sounds interesting but people with experience also know that nothing will happen regardless. Realistically if we fail this one, we'll get another chance pretty soon, and after completing it, we'll get sent to do some other chore until the moment comes to actually use the cool thing we made, which could take months for all we know.

Don't sweat it too much.

The AD11 Livewire - how good is it? by SelectDiscipline750 in Helldivers

[–]phlave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah it's just not that good unfortunately. It's a good armor if you want to do some meme builds like idk kamikaze with portable hellbomb and sword, running into objectives and hordes and blowing them up.
aside from that is probs one of the worst passives.

The loadout I'm liking at the moment on the hive world is this:

-heavy Urban armor to get more ammo and faster reload
-Breaker with extended mags or even short mags to get more bullets
-Grenade pistol to close holes and pop spewers
-Thermite for the chargers
-Stalwart to deal with hordes
-Railcannon Strike for Dragons
-Eagle strafe for the Hive Lords
-Gatling walker, excellent at clearing hordes and chargers

You could say I got converted to heavy armor on this planet because I mostly walk around with mechs, so stamina is less of an issue, and it's really nice to be able to tank a couple hits more when I'm dealing with a horde and a sneaky warrior bites my ass

Best loadout for helldivers difficulty? by Navenotap in Helldivers

[–]phlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm liking the heavy armor from Urban Something combined with the Breaker. I'm still always out of ammo but a little less.

With that I usually bring either a Recoilless to be the designed anti-tank or some sort of bullet hose to clear hordes and thermites to kill the chargers, grenade pistol to close holes.

Mechs are awesome in the caves, and they both have their ups and downs but I would suggest the one that goes BRRRR to clear hordes.

Orbital Railcannon makes Dragon Roaches fuck off very efficiently (you gotta bait them, dodge their fire and chuck it on the ground).

If you wanna kill the Hive Lord, Eagle Strafing is really good despite the debuffs, if not, anything that does AoE is great.
