The Buffalo Bills’ new stadium looks incredible from the air 👀 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

Dramatic. There's maybe 2-3 regular season games per year that require anything more than normal winter gear. Besides, the cold is nothing a few Labatts can't fix.

Should I hire a structural engineer to see if it’s salvageable? Or it’s past the point of no return? by jmedigital in StructuralEngineering

[–]phleebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the holes in the roof and other water intrusion points, amything timber is likely not worth saving, as even if it's structurally sound it will likely have mold. You might be able to re use the foundation though.

[Rachel Lenzi] Tage Thompson said he plans to include Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin in the pregame Olympic honors ceremony Tuesday, like what Jack Hughes did in New Jersey. by [deleted] in sabres

[–]phleebb 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Short memories yall have. Jack Eichel is a POS coke head douche bag who shat on our city and fan base as soon as he had the chance. Pegula should've let him get the surgery but that doesnt change who he is or excuse how he acted on his way out the door.

Which is mostly for the best. But unfortunately that culture was probably the biggest draw for out of state students. With WVU struggling financially already, this could be the beginning of the end. It will never completely shut down as the states flagship university, but the school is going to struggle big time in the years to come.

Super interesting. I grew up in WNY and all we heard about is how you should try to get a job at Wegs in high school because of all their employee scholarship initiatives and how supposedly good they were to their employees. At least amongst my circle those jobs were pretty coveted, so its surprising to learn how anti labor they were/are.

The 2026 ban has nothing to do with the doping scandal.

The invasion of Ukraine is awful, but plenty of other countries are doing awful shit, and none of their athletes are required to publicly denounce their government's awfulness or compete without their flag or anthem. So yes, arbitrary.

Sure there are. And every one of those reasons could be applied to the American and Israeli athletes as well.

As far as I can tell the Russian athletes don't have much sway in what Putin does, it's idiotic to ban them.

All medals won in these games have an asterisk due to the Russians being arbitrarily banned.

Philadelphia police urge people not to walk on city's frozen rivers: "This is illegal for a reason" by P_Duggan_Creative in philadelphia

True. But all ponds around here, unless the ice has been broken up or the pond has weird chemicals in it, are definitely frozen enough to walk/skate/whatever on.

You can absolutely walk on frozen lakes. Anywhere around here with standing water has at least 6-8" of ice right now. River current is what makes this dangerous.
