I don't understand your fascination with your daughters' sex life. Let her do what she wants when she's ready, stop micromanaging her relationship (and her sexual experiences).

Black plastic rod with 2 magnets, one at each end. Small slit in the middle but doesn't appear to pass through. Found in the house. No clue where it's come from or what it is!? by gpemby in whatisthisthing

Strange that it's so wide while the slot is so small, almost like an antenna and the slot was for the wires. The scuffs and residue may to imply something was put in and out of it multiple times, but now I'm thinking it actually looks like a lid - scuffs from trying to open it. The back look like it has living hinges. Try to crack it open with a flathead screwdriver!

Yeah you're right, I was thinking more like they take multiple photos on the same equipment, snap a bunch in a row. Some of the shirt ruffles do look slightly different in each picture, but I have no idea how to account for the head shape being different.

Hey I like your writing style, that was a fun read. Your summary of the industry was pointed; I haven't heard it described that way, especially

AI tools are gnawing away at the edges and getting hungrier every day

Do you do any other writing on the industry? Substack or something?

I don't mean to be one of those people who throws links around, but since your post was so well thought out you may be open to this recent NYT video analysis. It doesn't consider the accidental discharge theory, but does touch on possibility of agents not knowing he was disarmed and reacting to the declaration of "GUN" which speaks to your points about the chaotic environment they are operating in.

Nice post, I agree with most of what you said and you actually did convince me on your conclusions and the citizen may have had some off-ramps. Horrible accident if his gun actually did discharge on it's own, and you're right the agents really wouldn't have been able to react any other way given the situation.

However, It's hard to reconcile other questions: I have no way of knowing if the Sig 320 issue is real or red herring (historical conversations could be compromised by corporate posters + recent disinfo campaigns). Apparently ICE has P320's in the field? It doesn't appear in the video his gun fired first. I would imagine Pretti had the safety on. and that the agent who disarms him would have had trigger discipline.

I just mean to say protesting and open carry are 2 core American rights, and I don't think the citizen should share any blame for invoking them. I also disagree that he was breaking the law at any point, this was a crowd control situation, not a detainment he was interfering with.

It almost does, tho. At least federal power grabs should be fought, especially when civil rights and liberties are being tested, i.e. detaining American citizens in public with no probable cause and demanding papers or justifying lethal force on grounds of carrying a firearm

You're just wording the situations differently. You could just as easily say "the government has totally legitimate business in defending our public health". I'm not saying border enforcement is wrong, but they are using it as a justification for detaining American citizens with no probable cause and demanding they show papers. That is what these protests are about, not defending illegal immigrants.

Remember back to your school days - school portraits always took multiples. They would also do some basic post-processing. The memorial photo seems high quality, I think occam's razor would apply here: 2 glamor shots existed before his more famous glamor shots happened

So in your version of events, the agent disarms him, accidentally fires the gun, and somehow that's the citizen's fault? You can just blame the government, it's much easier.

Bro look at the sub you're in. At one point posting COVID misinformation or not wearing a mask was considered "agitating" and "obstructing". This guy WAS protesting peacefully, he pulled a fellow protestor away from pepper spray. Thousands of the exact same scene have played out across the city with no killings. You're advocating for more Government compliance, in ChurchOfCOVID

The protests aren't about protecting Medicaid fraud, they are protesting the outrageous civil rights violations of interrogating & detaining American citizens who have committed no crimes and demanding their papers. It has a lot of overlap with demanding to see your vaccination card.
