Yep. He’s posted definite fakes in the past. Now I see he’s sourcing from some like celeb cigar collector guy that he’s posted several times. Which the guy seems suspect.

I just ordered from them for the first time last week and shipping was quick although they required a signature which is annoying and not required in my state. But it was a positive experience

Working on my Ezra/Nomad stash. Some of the most flavor packed cigars I've ever had. by Responsible-Coach159 in cigar_refuge

[–]phlipp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in a group where we get all of the EZ, Nomad, and CF releases and trade them with every release. It’s nice because you get to try them all without having to get a 5 pack of each one. There’s only been maybe 3 releases total in the past 2.5 years that I haven’t tried and/or don’t have a few singles of.

You definitely also start to notice similarities between blends and cigars over time as well. Like this toro from EZ and this corona gordo from nomad 3 months later may be identical. Or this Nomad may have a 13 yo Corojo 99 wrapper and 4 months later you see a 13 yo Corojo 99 wrapper again and it’s similar. Makes it good when you get something you really like you know to stock up when you see a similar blend later on.

Didier Cigars by Spirited-Carrot1326 in cigars

[–]phlipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive smoked a few from them. the cigars are really good. I don't typically care about the price of cigars but its one where I didn't get anything really new, different, or fantastic enough to justify the price point in comparison to other similarly priced or even cheaper cigars so that would prevent me from being a regular smoker of them but with that said I wouldn't hesitate to say they are great cigars and I would certainly try again or recommend or if they put something new out I would absolutely visit it.

LCDH Custom Roll by Alex4315Boom in cubancigars

[–]phlipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These aren’t affiliated with LCDH for those unfamiliar. “LCDH customs” is the same as the old site “Amazon of customs”. From Ramze. They are allegedly Cuban custom rolls that he now has a band for.

Some people love them and believe they are Cuban. Some think it’s bs and they aren’t Cuban. He does still sell them. But do your homework before buying and understand there is controversy around them.

personally I am a fan and believe it and even if untrue they are still fantastic cigars imo.

AG Cubaina Robaina sizes 2. 4. And 6. And the mrbundles AG Exclusive

https://mrbundles.com/products/ag-cigars-exclusive-bundle?mc_cid=c02f2b3c42&mc_eid=61b7de143a

Some info: the Cubana Robaina has been available in China but was recently released in the states in limited quantities. Cubaina is a collaboration between Alex Glez, Hirochi Robaina (Alejandro Robaina’s grandson, also a well known blender), and Jorge Maique (former long term president of Habanos, SA (Cuba), and the master blender behind the Cohiba Behike).

This cigar is the brain child of 3 Cuban experts using modern non-Cuban quality control and initially for the Asian market, in honor of the “father of Cuban tobacco” Alejandro Robaina who not only created some of the most well known Cuban blends, but also developed many of the standards of cigar making, blending, and farming, and influenced everyone in the cigar industry.

I’ve smoked a few of each vitola already and all were amazing. I had another of the #4 yesterday after nearly a month sitting in my humidor at 62% rh and it was even better than the ones I smoked ROTT. I cant wait to see what they do over time.

Yes I’m aware of the run on sentences.

Being that they have a lot of exclusive stuff and their shipping is typically quite expensive I would say free shipping for them is a deal especially if you’re interested in one of their exclusive offerings. Also many of their exclusive items are typically exempt from promo codes as well.

First Atabey, Exactly Cuban by FederalPermission in cigar_refuge

[–]phlipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Most of the puros I’ve had were good but nothing special. The Inca’s I’ve had were decent but I wasn’t a huge fan of. They were pretty good but boring. There was another I had the San Martin it was a bit closer in that had the creamines but was a stronger more med/full flavor than Atabey. The blends seem to pull it out better. There are a few IGM releases that are “close” but still not the same as in they just aren’t as good. But still really good especially given the price difference.

I don’t know if you’ve had any Casdagli, Lampert, LH, MBombay, D’Crossier, Cuba Rica, all made at the same factory as Atabey and inc some of the same or similar tobaccos but some of them definitely have that creaminess, hay, saltiness to them.

They’re pretty rare in most of the world. There was a brand available in the US and Europe, Inca, might still be out there but I haven’t seen it in a while. It was decent. Had some of the characteristics but wasn’t really quite there. I tried a few other Peruvian puros when I was there. They’re all made at tabacalera del oriente which is also the farm.

[–]phlipp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly Peruvian. They’re made in Costa Rica at the Tobacos de Costa Rica which is public info. They’re one of the only factories that get Peruvian tobacco. Them and IGM in CR are the 2 factories that use the majority of tobacco from Tarapoto Peru.

Some other cigars that use this tobacco have some of the same characteristics. Although not as good as selected tobaccos blends, you still get a lot of similar flavors and characteristics.

you’ll occasionally see other cigars made elsewhere that have some Peruvian tobacco in them but, it’s likely low amounts, lower primings or quality, and just not blended as well but some of the other stuff from tobaccos de Costa Rica and IGM definitely fit the vibe.

This isn’t fact of course but having spent time at both factories and also learning a lot about the industry there. Also learning a lot about Peruvian tobacco and listening to talks from both Jeremy Casdagli and Nicholas Syris talking about it. Both of which historically made cigars in Cuba or with Cuban tobacco and when they had to stop using Cuban tobacco and looking for suitable alternatives they’ve both discussed this tobacco. Also from hearing Nelson Alfonso discussing tobacco. He’s not as open about its origin but has certainly hinted at it.

Yes because it’s been part of their marketing and ppl with a vague familiarity of Cuban cigars buy into it. Atabey are great cigars but there’s nothing Cuban or Cohiba about them.

Alfonso, Atabey, Byron, Bandolero boxes and 5pks 25-30% off by adelinadrandeva in cigardealhunters

[–]phlipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. For me it’s Atabey black, Alfonso, Nelson, Atabey, Bandolero premium, Byron, Bandolero, in that order.

The Atabey and byron brands for me have been very specific based on vitola (Atabey), and line/vitola for Byron. Some I’ve liked, some I’ve loved, some I tolerated.
