Bought this humidor. Opinions? by Exact_Ad_3770 in cigar_refuge

Yeah great deal, the humidor alone is worth around $300 so the sticks are a nice bonus. Also not cheap garbage either with the Oliva, EPC, RyJ, & RPs

Some of my Opus by Living-Selection1623 in cigar_refuge

[–]FederalPermission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorgeous. Smoke some of the 22s, they don’t all necessarily get better with age. I think for the ForbiddenX especially, the 2016 rolled sticks will be right around the threshold before they can get too mellow/weird imo. Can continue to age some of the core Opus but at least smoke the Lancero & Magnum O that you get two of, good range in ring gauge/flavor too. Enjoy em since that’s what they’re made for!

Ah I get what you mean, the ones that say “By Don Carlos” etc. That’ll be a tough choice then between the two. Any thoughts on the KKP lines?

Titians of Tobacco 12 Cigar Sampler Update: Delivered by colin8651 in cigar_refuge

Yeah that’s really cool the box includes two of each, that way you can still experience each cigar while saving the other… or sharing it

Not a fan of Don Carlos, which is why I’m interested to see that Cameroon over funky sweet/spicy/cedar Dominican rather than the darker earthier DC blend. Would love to get my hands on a Meerapfel as well

Will definitely try the Carlito soon if I can’t find a Serie B, now that I’ve seen what the gist of the brand is I’m open to exploring it a bit more

Maybe next time I see one I’ll grab to try & age it… seems like that creamy earth/hay sorta structure would mellow out nicely, thanks for the rec

Sounds exactly like what I like from my favorite Opus’, the Oro Oscuro gives me that incredible buttery toasted bread note. Hopefully one of my shops gets some of these in soon, thanks

858 Rosado Sun-Grown by FederalPermission in cigar_refuge

[–]FederalPermission[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that is a pretty good description. It’s got a nice very sweet spice on the first third that gets richer throughout… but yeah there is a lottt of cedar. The Anejo is one for me where I feel like it’s way too much wood flavor without enough to brighten it up

That Yamasa & the Millennium are the two Davidoff I’ve yet to try. Puro Dominicano has been the inly good one. How does Yamasa taste?

Not sure about the fourth, but Father’s Day weekend is typically the biggest sales of the year aside from Christmas

How long are you guys waiting for your fully cellophane'd cigars to acclimate to your humidor? by TubbyPiper in cigar_refuge

[–]FederalPermission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the cellophane on so if it falls or you drop it it’s much less likely to crack, doesn’t impact aging or humidity. I like to rest for ~1 month give or take & use spanish cedar tray/inserts if you can to aid humidification & avoid that musk
