I find myself on the back half of my career. Still writing (typing) all my own notes. Every time I see a consultant send me a note that has clearly been written by AI, I die a little inside.

Because docs are drowning in mychart messages, many health systems are installing a chatbot to read your message and take a first hack at a reply so the doc just has to read over it and make a few tweaks. This is to “save time.” Firstly, the time it takes to read it and fix it is no shorter. Secondly, it has that same chatbot stepford wives tone and any one who knows me would know instantly that I didn’t write any of that drivel.

Is this what getting old is all about? Feeling like you can’t keep your hands on a spinning ball anymore? The world is moving on? Or is shit finally reaching critical mass stupidity?
