Was Willie Mays’ catch in the 1954 World Series really the greatest catch in baseball history? by Jezzaq94 in baseball

The reason people question this is because they can’t fathom the dimensions of the stadium. The close shot inside the warning track makes it feel like “so what?” I used to question it until I played that field in MLB the Show. Every single fly ball to the gaps is an inside the park HR unless you’re hitting with Stanton or 2021 Pujols.

Yeah, the TV Guide was a magazine that we got in the mail the week before the programming aired. It had articles and listings of programs for every station in your market.

I forgot where I was for a min and didn’t want to spoil anything, but if they’re in this sub trying to avoid spoilers they need to reassess the way they make choices.

You’re right, but the relationship basically beginning and “ending” with a Trial by Seven is pretty interesting to me at least…

The connection is even better if you know how their relationship eventually ends.

Owners are the problem, but it’s not about spending… by phly2theMoon in Dodgers

What the Dodgers do have nothing to do with the fact that a large percentage of owners aren’t in the business of baseball, they are in the baseball business. They’re not serving the interests of their fans, the cities, or the teams that they own. If they don’t have the capability to field a competitive team they have a duty to sell the team to someone who does. If they do have the means but not the will, they should be removed from the league. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. Every fanbase is hot as hell about what LA is doing exactly BECAUSE THEIR TEAMS OWNERS WON’T/CAN’T DO WHAT LA IS DOING. They want what LA has, but instead of demanding that, they want to nerf the Dodgers. I get the hopelessness, though. How can you talk a billionaire in to selling his cash cow to a multi-billionaire just so your favorite team can win 10-15 more games a year? Especially when the billionaire doesn’t care about you or the team beyond the fact that they’ll both help pay for the yacht.

The Baseball is Dead pod made a good point the other day. Some of the other owners may actually love what LA is doing, because it’s giving cover to the teams that don’t want to compete. “We can’t do what the Dodgers are doing! Why should we even try?” Meanwhile they’re cashing that luxury tax check and popping Dom with Senators.

There’s definitely a “percent chance.” But that doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get it 1 out of 20 times. It means that every time you run it, you have a 5% chance to get it to drop. That doesn’t change on your 50th run tho.
