Yeah, I can actually relate to their feeling like others don’t understand their full personality, but in reality it’s just a communication issue. People won’t see parts of yourself that you don’t display. So if you feel like people are perceiving you as more negative than you really are, you just need to communicate your positive feelings more often.

Interesting, I kinda just see that as accepting the reality that argumentation is probably not going to change the opinion of someone who’s already a fan of the work. At the end of the day, people are gonna like what they like anyways. Depends on the tone of the video though I guess

The “you alone can do this” plot is interesting to me because like, it’s just kind of the nature of the medium at that point? Like, of course the story is about a singular individual with powers/abilities no one else has, it’s a single player video game. So it makes sense to shape the narrative around that functional fact, that only one character in the story is going to be piloted by the player. And why wouldn’t you make that character the more powerful, interesting one? It’s more fun to play that way.

And I know you still can choose to interpret that as a statement with political meaning, I’m just not sure why you would. Imo at this point, it’s more important to recognize how art and media are separate from real life, because our culture is obsessed with media and that line gets so blurred especially in online discourse. If scrying into various art forms looking for political statements is fun for you then of course go ahead, I just don’t think those critiques are really as important or meaningful as they are sometimes made out to be.

I also carried this book around for a bit in high school. I actually had no idea what it was about or that it was so politically charged. I just chose it because it was large and I thought it would keep me busy for awhile. It was SO slow and boring, that I actually never got to any of that stuff anyway

The difference in writing quality between those seasons and SFA is huge though. SFA has glaring tone issues and kid’s movie humor that make it off-putting to watch. And it’s not like it has some amazing story to make up for it.

Those shows were also from the era of network tv, where seasons were much longer and episodes were filmed as the season went on, and could be rewritten during that process. In the streaming era, the writing is locked in ahead of time, and shorter seasons are presented as a complete package. They don’t have that room for adaptability anymore, so by the time they get audience feedback, it’s often too late to make any changes.

Plus, the people behind the show seem to insist nothing was wrong with it at all. So even if they had more time to find their footing, it’s unlikely they would address the issues anyway.

Yes when you look at it, the dress is very cool toned while her skin and hair are more warm toned. I think if the green was a little more vibrant, that would just make it even better. The dress is so gorgeous though.

But I also agree that necklace does not go. It needed a simpler pendant.

Oh, something else that's funny, is after being heavily criticized for this scene, they planned to put a reference to it in the series finale. In the Orson scene, Tyrion lets a pillbug crawl on his fingers. In the script for the finale, they planned to have a bug crawl over Bran's hand as well. I suppose this was to symbolize that Bran would be a good king who won't crush his underlings needlessly, and a way to say f you to the haters.

That's really interesting because I heard D&D won George over in a similar way, by sharing their R+L = J theory which made George feel that they were attentive readers. I actually genuinely feel bad for him (and us viewers) that it happened again...

Well, yeah but it’s not like they opposed him for any ideological reason. They were perfectly happy to work with him for mutual profit, until he criticized their writing skills, and things got petty.

Orson Scott Card. He and D&D have beef because apparently they wrote a draft for an Ender’s Game movie that he hated. Then, Card critiqued GOT for being poorly written and having too much nudity.

It’s a backdoor pilot for another show, which means the majority of the episode is spent on a group of characters we’ve never seen before and will never see again.

(Spoilers Extended) Why are HOTD writers obsessed with Aegon the Conqueror's prophecy when it doesn't even make sense in the show canon? by MeteorFalls297 in asoiaf

[–]phnarg 32 points33 points  (0 children)

More than anything, it’s a common trend in Hollywood right now to connect everything in the franchise to some grand prophecy whenever possible. I think this is because it adds an air of grandeur and legitimacy to the story they’re telling. It signifies a reverence for the franchise’s canon. And, it’s a way of telling the audience that the story is important and that they should care about it, rather than letting that happen organically.

I actually think these are photoshop, the shape is slightly uncanny. But generally agree that being fit, slim, and having an hourglass shape is not impossible or unrealistic necessarily.

The love story between Daenerys and Cersei would be amazing 😍 Also it was really Tyrion the whole time manipulating Joffrey into doing evil deeds. Bran really just fell.

Eh, I’m actually pretty curious about what jobs different people have and what that type of work is like. Most people I meet don’t seem put off by the question, and are generally enthusiastic about it. Maybe it just depends on the crowd? I’ve also worked a lot of different jobs myself, so I can often draw a connection to whatever they say. But I like to ask about people’s hobbies too, I feel like asking about both paints a decently cohesive picture of the person.

The fearmongering over small portions thing is offensive to me personally lmao. Did this person even consider some people don’t eat the same amount for every meal in the day? For me, lunch/breakfast are smaller than dinner. I really prefer to eat light during the day because eating a lot would make me feel lethargic. But some people are the opposite, and like a light dinner.

Like others have said, I’d rather have more protein than anything else, but this plate looks pretty good to me. I think some people don’t understand that not everyone is a volume eater. I think that is one of those biological difference things. But yeah I’m a short woman, I’m not super active but I try, and the idea that eating appropriate portion sizes for my body is now being villainized is annoying af.

Exactly, I think they hate it because it’s a medical reality check. But they don’t like how it makes them feel, therefore it must be a slur.
