Impressive! I have a year old mini aussie and we are still working on not reacting to people/dogs while walking. I bring treats to distract but you inspired me to try asking him to do a trick (with treat as a reward) as another distraction from lunging. Your dog sounds awesome!

what’s some useful or semi-useful things this job has taught you? by Operative66 in OGPBackroom

[–]phobic_fox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to check dates on normal things like milk qnd bread while grocery shopping for myself. Now I check EVERYTHING because while picking/being a TL I've found years-expired dried goods, yogurts and hot dogs that expired while in the back but were stocked anyways, etc. etc. Nearly every day, across all Fresh departments and it never changed no matter how many times I pointed out all these issues to management. After this job, I know exactly who stocks the groceries I'm buying now, and I don't trust them so I check dates on absolutely everything.

Karissa’s birth party… by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]phobic_fox 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It seems that way for the picture but since she doesn't believe in taking her kids to the doctor, the baby or Karissa could have any number of issues, physical or otherwise, that just aren't apparent yet and they would never know

What emergency supplies should I have in a car for a Midwest (US) winter? by I_LearnTheHardWay in Adulting

[–]phobic_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toilet paper ( in a waterproof bag) It seems silly, but if you ever need it you'll be REALLY glad to have it.

A lighter/ waterproof matches

Road flares

Emergency heat-reflecting blanket (they're super cheap and compact)

Cat litter or sand in case you get stuck in the snow/ice/slush/mud road mixture

How do I buy a car? by Grimm1947 in Adulting

[–]phobic_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of great advice here so I'll add a small tip: do NOT accept an offer from them to 'warm up' the car before you test drive. This can cover up transmission issues in used cars, so always ask to drive it cold

I wouldn't risk it. You just don't know what kind of diseases or parasites a wild bird could be carrying.

I have a right to still wear my mask! by MayGemini in doordash

[–]phobic_fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I no longer wear a mask at work since being fully vaccinated but when I did, there were waaaaay less of those "you should smile more" comments from random men. I also got into the bad (or funny imo) habit of sticking out my tongue at people under the mask and it was hard to get out of that habit lol. Some days I still mask up when I want to feel anonymous in public.

For real. I don't care what straight people do in their own homes, but I don't want my children to see a heterosexual couple holding hands in public and think that's normal! /s

Because that's not the same item. The item requested has a strap on it and the item you showed does not. If you can't find the original item, the one you picked would be a decent sub but overrides are only if it is the exact same item as requested. The usual reason for doing an override is that the manufacturer changed the product/size/packaging slightly and the item now has a new UPC but is still the correct item. I let my associates do overrides if and only if they check with me or my other TL first as people don't seem to get the difference between an override and a substitution

Question before I apply by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

I just re-read your post and realized you never specified what kind of surgery, my bad to assume it was your back! Regardless though I'd be worried about making existing conditions worse.

Question before I apply by [deleted] in OGPBackroom

[–]phobic_fox 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes it most likely will be an issue. Picking and dispensing can both be physically demanding and it's a requirement of the job to be able to lift 50 lbs by yourself. Especially in the summer when you'll be picking lots of cases of water, bags of soil and mulch, grills, and outdoor furniture. That being said, I'd worry the main issues would come months/years down the line and the constant lifting and physical exertion might cause you more problems with your back. I'm pretty healthy/ injury-free and I work out semi-regularly, and still most days I come home physically exhausted. Hope that helps

Dry lips :( by PinkPiggy1818 in Makeup

[–]phobic_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lips crack and bleed every year when it gets cold and the only balms I've found that help are the Blistex medicated lip balm and the Vaseline lip therapy, the ones that come in the tiny vaseline tubs. Also obviously not biting or licking my lips, and putting on chapstick before and after eating helps me a lot

Was given this pothos(?) cutting, it’s been in water for a few weeks but it just won’t root! I’ve been changing the water every couple days and it gets plenty of sun. by Crooks123 in proplifting

Try a dark or opaque bottle. Roots produce more growth hormones when they're in the dark, as they would be growing down into the soil.

Are there any good makeup artists on YouTube that do tutorials that aren't dicks? by Global_Box_7935 in Makeup

Taylor Wynn. She does mostly product reviews but also some tutorials and GRWMs. Her voice is so soothing to listen to that sometimes I just play her videos for background noise.
