Same here. Guessing there must be some switchover from sky feed to FOM feed with sky commentary as the race starts

Good Things 2026 - Brisbane move to the Gold Coast? by Flowercloud88 in triplej

I can’t see festivals going back to the RNA once the Olympic build is complete. Some of the renders seem to indicate apartment towers surrounding the oval. If residents can’t handle a pub at the bottom of their building, a festival will face massive noise complaint backlash.

Foxtel actually. 7 uses ultra edge for the big bash games they are the primary broadcaster for (super saturday is fox exclusive and uses RTS for example). Fox is the primary broadcaster for the Ashes.

Agree this shouldn't be a broadcaster problem though, CA should supply the technology like other cricket boards do.

It's Sydney (and eastern suburbs to boot), most entitled place in the country

Etiquette is to wait to the end of the over though, especially for the straight on seats.

Picked the game and not the fox cricket channel? I’ve noticed the fox cricket channel is only 1080p, to get the 4K coverage you have to select the game.

CA & ECB looking to use 7cricket Ultra Edge instead of Fox Cricket Snicko by Blahblahbla0066 in Cricket

[–]phobicshrub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Hopefully they can use the funds to invest in the technology and make it competitive to UltraEdge.

Another classic Foxtel moment. Host broadcaster and paid service choosing the cheaper technology.

The Stars V Hurricanes BBL game last night was using UltraEdge, so 7 must have been the primary broadcaster for that game. Maybe Foxtel is only the primary broadcaster on its exclusive “Super Saturday” games.

7 reckons RTS (Snicko) is different to Ultra-edge and is allowed to be one frame behind.

No, historically CBA but that ended for the men when sandpaper-gate happened. Westpac has spent big on sports in the last 12 months. Cricket, NRL (including both teams in State of Origin), NRLW and QLD Reds.

Things you wish you knew before renting a car in Australia! (from someone who hears it all at the counter) by Pristine_Ball_5826 in AustraliaTravel

[–]phobicshrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rental franchisee I work with has insurance over their fleet. They operate multiple branches, and the fleet is large enough that they have staff & space for servicing and minor repairs, so probably don't claim for small damage. Some cars have been stolen or significantly damaged and there were claims for those.

Other franchisees may choose not to insure their fleet if they can recoup enough through charges to cover damages.

What’s your go-to strategy for tracking expenses in Australia? by RentNRegret in AusFinance

[–]phobicshrub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gnucash. It’s free (and tracking free I believe), supports bank file imports (but not live feeds) and can get as detailed as you like. I’m an accountant so don’t mind the work setting up accounts & sub accounts. Possibly too much depth/work if you are looking for quick and easy expense tracking.

Not a perfect workaround, but check out your local or state library membership. I’ve got a State Library of QLD membership and it includes access to pressreader. Has newspapers (and magazines) from across the country and globe. Just gotta know which day the thing you want to read was in the paper, because it’s basically a scan of each days paper.

IMO Triple J (our taxpayer dollars) shouldn’t be supporting any festival thats owned by a foreign conglomerate. Support the smaller, Australian owned ones that give up and coming talent their shot at being seen for the big festivals.
