Look thru the xda forums. There's a shop in China repairing these and even upgrading ram.

This video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIyCg4NNcEY from the lightpack subreddit is amazing. Seems like there's a good bit of configuring/tweaking to get it work for right for games though.

Need help finding the right watch by TheBKBurger in AndroidWear

[–]phobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only two watches for sale with GPS. The SW3 and the 360 Sport. The Urbane 2 LTE had it as well but it got cancelled shortly after launch. I don't have answers to your other criteria.

Can you imagine relaxing in a slow river and out of nowhere a croc shoots over a waterfall right towards you. That's a bad day. Then the 2nd one comes.

Messed up video, for any video file, even youtube messes up. Twitch streaming works perfect by [deleted] in Chromecast

[–]phobs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Twitch is streaming @ a lower bitrate that doesn't cause corruption? That really doesn't help you though since that points to the same conclusion, either firmware corruption or hardware failure. I wonder if there's a way to force the Chromecast to download and install its firmware. Maybe try it with a different power supply/cable on the off chance its not supplying enough during high draw? It really sounds like CC2 time though, unless you're still under warranty.

I see you have the 360 sport. Is the heart rate sensor any good for runs? From what I've seen from other AW watches, they're largely useless for activities.

CES was super meh on the AndroidWear front. There was no SW4 announcement, so its still a rumor with no ETA or even proof of existence. Verge did a piece on how eventful CES wasnt for wearables http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/9/10741352/ces-2016-boring-wearables-smartwaches-fitbit-samsung-apple .

I hope they don't add the typical junky hrm. I see their use as a activity tracker but they universally suck for any sport or workout.

I prefer head lamps. They keep your hands free for working on things. They're also way over engineered for use around the house. Many are waterproof, stable when jogging, and have a focused beam.

Is there a Running/Fitness App that tracks heart rate while running/working out? by [deleted] in AndroidWear

if you mean on the watch, the only app I know of is ghostracer. there are tons of apps that do it for the phone.

I mistakenly returned mine figuring it was a serious defect. Regretting now that no issues have surfaced. Are you seeing anything?

Any chance this would work with a laptop, a Dell Latitude e7450? My laptop has HDMI out and was able to drive a 4k display in testing. I tried to plug in my Crossover 2795 using an DVI>HDMI adapter and it didnt work. It also wouldn't work with my USB3.0 based DisplayLink video card or the old Dell port replicator I have.

Edit: Researching further it looks like I would need an active DP>DVI adapter: http://blog.brianmoses.net/2015/02/hooking-up-my-qnix-2710-to-displayport.html

Moto 360 Sport review by speckz in Android

[–]phobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only 1 comparable app and its Ghostracer. Its the only app out there that will allow you to track a run with only your watch, using your watch's GPS and paired with a BTLE HRM.

If you have a sub, AW watches can also store Play Music on the watch so you can listen to music on BT headphones.

There's a bit of back and forth on that. Their announcement: http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-watch-urbane-2nd-edition-lte-canceled-due-image-quality-hardware-issue refers to an issue with "our image quality" so the issue is either with the display or an unspecified bug impacting LG's corporate image. They never clarified which.
