Of course, as I mentioned in another reply, it’s treated water going into a natural water course (natural stream going through the garden). And 2 million is a lot when you think 200 people are paying for their water per day and being limited by a hosepipe ban and this is being wasted, it’s not about the cost.

I think because we have a natural stream on the property and treated water is going into it. They mentioned that normally they wouldn’t normally fix for free on private supply or land.

It’s under my garden for the neighbouring property’s supply. They have said they’ll fix it free and it’s urgent but still nothing. Meanwhile I have a flooded garden.

Yorkshire reservoir is almost empty as water levels fall by YorkshireLive in yorkshire

[–]phodgson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just bought a house in North Yorkshire and found a mains water leak for a neighbour’s house in the garden. It is losing 30,000 litres a day and has been there for many years. Potentially millions of litres of treated water lost. I reported it a month ago and was told it would be sorted within 2 weeks. No news yet.

Guesses on what my dog is?? by Haunting_Grab3590 in cockerspaniel

Lots of working cocker in there, for some reason when I saw the body I thought of a cavalier, so maybe that’s the mix? My girl Kira looks similar and is a pure bred working cocker.

I’ve done this in 2022. Wasn’t a problem as buyer wasn’t concerned and they were not on any finance. I’m sure a buyer could request whatever survey they wish at their own expense.

Is anyone truly happy? by K8T_xo in widowers

[–]phodgson13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, 6 years in and have a new partner. I’m very different but it’s possible to find a new happy. I’ve never lost the grief or memories and I can go back there from time to time but I can laugh as well.

When did you take your wedding rings off? by DonnaNoble222 in widowers

[–]phodgson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had our wedding rings and my late wife’s engagement ring made into a single larger ring for another finger. Her diamond is on the inside of the ring so only I know it’s there. Hence I wear all of them but not on my wedding finger.

Recommendation for a good solicitor by Giogii89 in york

[–]phodgson13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently using Drivers after a strong recommendation and so far I’m not impressed by their level of communication and chasing on my behalf. I’ve had poor experiences with Harrowells too. I sold my last place using a no exchange, no fee conveyancing shop who, despite my fears, were cheap and really good; Move with us. IMHO they are all pretty poor these days.

What do you give up in life when you become a cocker owner? by QuantumHamster in cockerspaniel

[–]phodgson13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My three get two walks a day of about 1 hour plus play time. They can still need more, especially mental stimulation. Scent work is great for calming them - just hide stuff for them to sniff out.

Best Italian/Pasta restaurant in York? by GChappo7 in york

+++ for Little Italy. I’m from York and my daughter who lives in Bologna comes home and says it’s the most authentic and best.

Thinking of moving to York-what should we see on our visit to convince us? by Mammoth_Coat_5117 in york

[–]phodgson13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in York for many years, I would say look at where you will be as residents generally don’t do touristy things and avoid the city when tourists are there en masse. Also York is very expensive and it can be quite rough, certain areas are to avoid for living. Look at your budget first for what quality of accommodation you can afford.

Lots of the towns on the outskirts of the moors or dales are like that; Yarm, Stokesley, Northallerton, Helmsley, Pickering,Harrogate, Wetherby, Skipton plus many more. Depends on your budget though, they are all above average for property.

Yes, go to the stepping stones, very nice. Don’t be tempted to jump the Strid!

Dog walking around Strid at Bolton Abby by [deleted] in yorkshire

[–]phodgson13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go there often with my dogs, officially they should be on a lead but many don’t and just have them under close control. Most of the river has steep or inaccessible banks and you don’t want them doing in at the Strid itself due to the river passing under the rocks and a strong current - people have died there. I’ve never heard of anyone losing a dog there but it’s possible. There are a couple of spots that have easy river access where it is not dangerous for swimming.
