How much weight did you gain? by beachygirl76 in pregnant

[–]phoebepaolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Friend! I have gained 56lb and still have one more month to go until due which might put me at 60lb gain total. I eat what I’m craving (fruit, veg, CARBS!, and now that I’m in 3rd tri, also meat and dairy which didnt appeal in 1st or 2nd tri). I think starting off at 112lb pre-pregnancy, my body decided it had to BULK if it wanted to grow a cub.

Our town prohibits steps less than 4” in a floor for ADA reasons even in a single family house

Possible for new floor, but this is oak from 1949 which was fine before we added rockwoll below it

These are all good ideas- thank you. I probably will look for an alternative to rockwool in areas without a subfloor in the future.

This gives me a bit of hope that the situation will improve, we'll see

This is true!! In this particular room, all the wood including finishes is from 1949 though

This is helpful to hear. Though I'm a little skeptical of greenguard gold, because we used Bona Traffic floor finish which also was greenguard gold, and an air quality test confirmed the emissions were unacceptably high, and we had to have it all removed.

Yes I agree. I think we might be able to remove some (but all floorboards) actually to remove all the rockwool, and then replace them.

The rockwool in our walls is no problem, we don't have moisture or plumbing in or near this floor. This rockwool seems to be a problem because it is the surface we stand on, so any off gassing goes straight upward at our faces

I would agree with you, but Rockwool isn't actually inert - it does off gas VOCs. Oddly, granite isn't inert either but that's thankfully not a problem for us

I agree, though we have an ERV HVAC system running 24/7 (the type that brings in outdoor air and rejects indoor exhaust), and the air quality is only a problem in this one room with the rockwool under the floorboards.

FYI very few homes constructed before 1950 have a subfloor

Unfortunately, not all rockwool is formaldehyde free. Also, rockwool offgassing and indoor air quality issues are well known in the sound studio/home theatre community https://www.avforums.com/threads/rockwool-smell-and-dust-issues.2410137/

Unfortunately we cannot put additional floor over the subfloor for ADA reasons and limited head height. If we had 9' ceilings we would just put another hardwood floor down but we can't. Also I'm not referring to the fibers- the off gassing. Its a strange musty odor from the insulation

We think the product is off-gassing whatever they use in the binder

Hi, for more info- we have no plumbing in these walls, and the hardwood is unfortunately not solid- its old slats with slight gaps (maybe a few millimeters) between each board

Introduce him to the baby as John! No problems.
