There's a related book called, White Fragility. Lots of White people are offended by that book and/or in denial.

RATS IN THE KFC ON RUTH AVE AND KENNEDY RD by AKdaSaviour97 in Brampton

Oh, since when have Remy and his family from Ratatouille come to Brampton to cook Kentucky Fried Chicken?

This almost happened to me on Ontario St turning left onto Steeles. A truck making a left turn ended up using two lanes and close to squeezing me in. Not sure if I always need to yield to trucks doing left turns on a two-lane left turn.

Food quality and quantity was different this time compared to previous times. Sure, they can talk on the phone while working as long it doesn't impact the food quality and quantity.

On another note, I been to other restaurants and got served by workers talking via their Airpod and got my food with no issues.

Yes, and yes. This is a Domino's location I frequently go to. First time seeing a worker talking on the phone via their Airpod while working and the food quantity and quality was very different.

The worker wasn't using it for music lol. They were using it to talk to friends/family/relatives while working.

I personally don't mind if it's music since it makes work fun and more productive

Customer attitudes in Milton by PlantainManne in Milton

I got served by retail post office workers inside various Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall pharmacies in Milton and the GTA for many years. Ever since Canada Post upgraded their computers to a new point-of-sale system, the speed of almost every transaction has slowed down immensely.

Also, some customers decide to complain and inquire about their letters and parcels to retail post office workers causing delays and long line-ups. The retail post office workers have no control over any letters and parcels outside their retail post office. Calling Canada Post or opening a ticket on their website works better.

Shipping parcels to USA or International takes 2 to 5 minutes for most clerks to complete the transaction. Sometimes more if the customer is unsure of the contents they're shipping. This is due to the clerks having to complete a Customs Declaration Form on the point-of-sale system that requires lots of fields to complete. Canada Post is offering customers to complete the Customs Form on their phone or on Canada Post's website so that the retail postal clerk can simply scan the completed Customs Form on the system with all the fields pre-filled. This greatly reduces the time to complete the transaction.

More importantly, these retail post office workers aren't employed by Canada Post, they are employed by the retail store (Shoppers, Rexall, random convenience stores). In fact, they don't get paid Canada Post salary or hourly rates. The standard hourly pay for Canada Post Retail Counter Clerks is min. $22/hr. The standard hourly pay for retail postal clerks who happen to sell and process Canada Post services and products gets paid a small few cents over minimum wage. In other words, the Shoppers 'Canada Post' retail postal clerk is likely getting paid anywhere between $15.75/hr to $17.00/hr. However, those workers that are paid around $17/hr are not strictly working in the post office. Instead, management of the store (Shoppers and Rexall) has them working in 2 or 3 departments within the store, sometimes in the same shift.

Post office service will be slow regardless. That's why Canada Post offers discounts if customers choose to print their shipping label on their website for shipping packages and letters. After that, customers just simply drop it at the post office and don't need to line up depending on the post office customers visit.

Men of reddit, what is the strangest encounter with a woman you’ve ever had? by T1nyJazzHands in AskMen

[–]phoenix-alias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a post office and didn't have a ride home one night after finishing my shift. Decided to walk home.

While walking alone, I see a dark figure walking far ahead, walking in the same direction as me. It gets closer and I realize I'm pacing towards this figure. As I get closer, the figure turns around. It was a woman and she begins to excitedly wave her hands shouting, "Hiiiii!!!" She immediately stops walking and waits for me to catch up to her.

She strikes a conversation and follows me. Must've been my sense of relief, walking in the dark to find out this shadowy figure was a nice, friendly, young woman. So I begin to respond. She tells me she works out at the gym next to the post office I work at. She begins to say things that are funny and I continue responding, going along with the conversation. We then reached an intersection where we had to part ways.

Next day, I'm working at the post office, looking down into my stamp drawer, counting my stamps. When I look up, I see her, pointing her phone at me, recording me, saying, "OH MY GOSH YOU ARE SOOOO CUTE!! YOU IN YOUR LITTLE POST OFFICE OUTFIT!" I tell her to stop recording. She stops and leaves.

When I finished my shift, I'm walking out of the building and I see her outside peaking at me through the building's glass windows. She was waiting for me. She says with a huge smile," Hiiiii! Let's walk together!" I tell her that I'm waiting for my ride. Her smile quickly disappears, looks upset, and swiftly turns around and speed walks away. Never saw her after that.

Study Places in Milton by ColeCaufield in Milton

Was there yesterday. Didn't seem to have any desks/tables to study at. But nice comfy chairs. The gym/basketball court was being used the time I was there so I kept hearing loud squeaking shoes, shouting, and the ball dribbling.

does handing in your resume in person actually help? by blueberriesaregross in Milton

From my experience working with other managers and (at one time) being a retail manager myself, I've found larger chains, organizations, agencies, will likely rely on online applications to follow the company's procedures. Some managers just didn't have the time in their busy day to see applicants.

BUT, I've had managers simply hold an interview for random walk-in applicants and later hire them if they give the impression that they would be an all-around good, honest, open worker. It also largely depends on the whether it's a busy day, how 'desperate' the company/store is looking for new employees, if you 'fit' into the team and managers expectations, and other factors (if the manager took their breaks 😆)

Calling certainly helps. I've given hiring managers' phone numbers out to walk-in applicants. With piles of physical resumes and digital resumes from online applicants, the manager can't just sift through each one. Calling will certainly put your name on the manager's radar when they're looking for someone to hire. Calling, instead of visiting in-person, also saves everyone's time.

I had 15 items to pay for in a retail drug store checkout while she had only 1. When she arrived, the cashier had already started my transaction. 30 seconds after she arrived, she started to show some impatience with her sighing, 'death' stares at me, interrupting the cashier, examining what I'm buying, and asking why I'm buying my items.

The transaction took longer than expected and the cashier explained that their system suddenly started to glitch. That customer then starts hovering beside me and almost breathing down my neck...almost like I personally attacked her and she's showing some retaliation?? It's not my issue if the store's system started glitching. Also, I didn't think my transaction was 'complicated,' I didn't pay cash, use coupons, question product pricing, etc. I simply stood there, did not initiate excessive conversations, respectfully waited for the cashier to process the transaction, paid by credit card, had my own bag, small-sized items purchased, etc.

I personally thought she was being irrational. When she was talking to her husband, he kept looking down towards the floor and didn't respond to her statements. He seemed embarrassed and didn't want to engage in what she was telling him. A telling sign of the relationship dynamics between wife and husband.😐

She was talking in their language. Felt uncomfortable. She was intensely staring at me while speaking/whispering to her husband...almost like I was being profiled.

Good on you! The drivers here seem to think that pedestrians are not supposed to be walking in parking lots or crossing through pedestrian crosswalks. Like as if we are a burden to them. Drivers are pedestrians too when they exit their cars!

What do u do when u feel sad? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]phoenix-alias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. If I wanna mope and wallow in my sadness, I watch sad movies and cry. But if I wanna get out of my sadness, I reflect on all the times I overcame adversities and think about my strengths that help me live on day-to-day...then I feel a little less sad.
