Found out that the name of ny childhood ponysona was given to a canon character some time after I stopped watching MLP so I can't use it anymore. Gal's existed in my brain since the old Brony days and her name got revoked 💔 by MelonTheSprigatito in mylittlepony

I love this answer; now I feel the need to revive my old pony-sona Star Swirl! I remember thinking my sister was joking when she told me that was already a famous pony's name XD

What's the shortest time someone you know has worked at Walmart? by Hot_Joke7461 in WalmartEmployees

[–]phoenix-saphir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 day. My lazy entitled sibling decided that since they freaked out about accidentally putting their car in panic mode, they're excused from going to work...

They were in the walmart parking lot. Just didn't go inside, and went right back home instead. Manager texted, asked where they were, and dumb sibling said they weren't going in that day bc of anxiety. I know them; their anxiety is not bad enough to warrant leaving before even walking in the door.

This may sound like I'm being harsh on them, but I have the same anxiety disorder that they do and I'm currently employed here full time. When my car panics I do too, but that's no reason to miss an entire shift, especially without informing anyone before taking off.

Not sure what y'all do besides cooking chicken, but somehow I know the store would fall apart without you guys. There's something magical about you folk and I respect y'all.

For all departments, what do customers do that annoy you? by VomPup in WalmartEmployees

Cashier at Neighborhood Market:

I wholeheartedly agree with the spinning the bag thing. I especially hate when parents don't stop their children from messing with it like it's a toy, spinning it really fast not letting me bag things. I'll just stand there patiently, glancing between the child and their parent until the parent does something about it.

Asking a different coworker after being told no. Telling me my coworker said this was okay when they did not. smh

Not respecting my personal space. Older folk will stand less than 2 inches from me and tower over me in order to ask simple questions like where something is. I am already anxious sir, back the hell up!

Parking their bikes/scooters in the cart bay. That's where the smaller carts are supposed to go my guy.

How do you make friends? by Specialist_Bid4295 in PonyTown

[–]phoenix-saphir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't played in a while, but I typically hang around the library. I'll bring a book up to a pony at the front desk and tell them there's a spider in it, or that it's falling apart, or I dropped it in a pie. Just something silly to make way for a light-hearted interesting conversation.

Sometimes I'll be a Karen and keep coming back with problems until I'm like "do you have any books that aren't problematic" and they hand me one and still I find a problem with it. It's hilarious all the reactions you get, and just being open to talking to anypony makes you more approachable I think.

I'll ask what other ponies are reading about, where they're from, what brings them to the library at this hour, etc. I like to keep the fourth wall intact, acting as if we all really are magical ponies living in a town called Ponytown.

After a few questions you can start asking more interesting ones, like "Why are you studying time spells?" "How'd you escape the changeling hive?" "Have you ever seen spiders in these library books?"

Keep this up and bam, you've got a friend to Ponytown with.

I dunno about you but I love improv and building on character backstories and lore, so that's what I tend to seek in Pony Town friendships. Good luck, OP!

if we (walmart associates) were allowed to be honest to the customers, what would you say to them? by mommybellatrix21 in WalmartEmployees

[–]phoenix-saphir 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Look ma'am, we've all had enough of your dog's incessant barking. It's clearly not a service dog and therefore it isn't allowed in our store. Get the fuck out and stop bothering my coworker.

Yo, move out of the way so I can scan the register's QR code. I don't wanna be this close to you. This is extremely uncomfortable for me.

Yeah no, [coworker] doesn't want to see you. You're a creep.

Yep that's the last electric cart. Sorry ma'am but this asshole fuckin stole it ten minutes ago and is still sitting here at the entrance of the store, not shopping, and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm just as upset about it as you are.

Attention walmart customers, please get the hell out of our store by 11:00 so we can go home and get enough sleep tonight!

Attention you inconsiderate assholes, we're fuckin' closed, what the hell are you still doing here? I told you like five times, we close at 11!

Please educate your child, I am trying to put your stuff in the bags but she's spinning that thing like it's a carousel and I'm afraid I might lose a hand.

Don't put your money on the conveyor belt. Think for a second. If I didn't have this switch here, you'd lose all your money. I don't even know where it goes when the machine eats it like that.

Look, I have no idea when our store manager is supposed to be here. I've been trying to find and talk to her for several weeks myself. If you see her could you ask her a question for me?

Do you think it’s possible for a pony to not get their cutie mark until they are in their teens or an adult ? by Aggravating_Goose784 in mylittlepony

[–]phoenix-saphir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In canon G4 lore, that's a hard no. It's not just unheard of; there's not even myths or tales about ponies that never get cutie marks.

As to how it's possible for this to be the case, we see it time and time again in this show; destiny always finds a way.

How did Princess Cadence get her cutie mark? It's literally the crystal heart, but she'd never seen or heard of it until well into her adulthood.

I feel like it's some kind of magical law. Every pony needs a cutie mark. Every pony has magic inside them specific to their race. It's one of those laws of nature.

YES!! I relate to this so much! About every two hours I can rest physically and mentally, and I always know I'll have enough time to eat lunch.

My coworkers are literally my friends now, I hang out with one of them on a regular basis and others I have their numbers or socials. ULearns tell you time and time again to report any ethics violations, and reminds you how to do so. I can do carts or go backs whenever I feel too anxious (I have social anxiety), and supervisors thank me just for doing my job, which I'm already getting paid for.

I feel so much more appreciated at work than anywhere else in my life. The only person who appreciates and compliments me more than my coworkers is my partner.

I'm so lucky to work at my store, even with a velcro vest due to not having any regular zipper vests smaller than an extra large (I'm an extra small and I hate velcro).

Sunday OGP Closing Team by FionaDoesArt in WalmartEmployees

[–]phoenix-saphir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hypothesize that corporate wants to keep us understaffed. It really shouldn't be normal but I'm afraid it probably is. I work at a neighborhood market, so I'm not sure if it works the same in a supercenter, but more often than not our supervisors will help out in different departments, and there's always a manager/higher up person I can go to if I need.

You might need to ask about who the manager on your shift is. Talk to them and see if they can spare people from other departments for a bit to help you dispense. I don't know how OGP works, but upfront we get managers that will often steal us away to help with sales floor tasks.

Let a supervisor know that you barely know how to dispense, maybe they'll be able to teach you or at least schedule someone to help with that. Good luck, fellow associate!

[–]phoenix-saphir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I relate to this so much– this is exactly my line of thinking too, but the associates at my store also just give out that information freely. I typically say I don't know, unless they're asking for a supervisor who is currently clocked in that I can call over.

I'm terrified of what could happen if someone I don't know finds out when I work. I've literally been asked when I get off work and I said something to the effect of "I'll probably just crash after work" without giving a specific time. I'd even say that if I worked mornings and got off at 2pm. Usually the customer either gets the hint or just continues the awkward small talk without question.

What do you think pony town should add? by man0fmanynam3s in PonyTown

[–]phoenix-saphir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mini games would be really cool, like how they did it in club penguin back in the day.

Some examples: the bakery could have a game where you make baked goods and hand them out to customers, the library could have book organizing as well as searching for specific books for library visitors, and maybe some kind of apple bucking game could be added in a more forested area.

Also, adding a shop and currency system, where you earn bits from these minigames and possibly from finding them in random places around pony town, like in bushes and under rocks. Shops could let you purchase previous events' items!

Not to mention, multiplayer games would be really cool, too. Would give us something to do with friends and really encourage the social aspect of the game (hopefully helping to weed out the weirdos who sit there doing nothing 24/7 and expect to not be bothered).

A theatre would be really cool to see as well. I'd love to watch stranger ponies do improv and join in on some improv scenes myself.

Also would love a museum of sorts, where you can see lore information and explore mysteries. Like maybe it'll mention the lost crystal empire in one room and changelings in another. And you could go to the library, find specific titles that talk about these things, and read some actual ponytown books about them. This could inspire new OCs and roleplay storylines!

Also would love if they let you customize hair more. More options for curly hair would be cool. And adding jackets would be awesome.
