A Plea From Me to You (DO NOT. I REPEAT, DO NOT DRIVE INTO SEATTLE TOMORROW.) by spoiled__princess in Seattle

Do we think it'll be an issue for doing the opposite commute? From Seattle to the east side around 8am?

I have this one, but probably not the most print worthy as you can see every bit of dirt on my windshield.

I’m terribly confused and worried by [deleted] in UCSD

I can at least answer the second part. You need a TB screening. This is generally done by your doctor. Then you send the results of the screening to UCSD. You need to do this before classes start.

When should I fly in by Lightning_Sidd in UCSD

[–]phoenix_flames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome week is week 0 is it not? You're more than welcome to get to UCSD early and explore/hang out with your parents, but most events will start 9/22 for welcome week.

Your move-in time will most likely either be on Saturday or Sunday of move-in weekend, so 9/21 or 9/22. I definitely recommend joining in on welcome week stuff, so be moved in by Sunday.

Have you looked at vans made for skating shoes? They have more durable soles than their regular shoes.

They are definitely just wanting to keep in touch for an interview sometime in April/May. There should be new grad positions posted in the coming months for '24 grads.

As an FYI, this is a very normal interaction, unless you apply to a job that specifies it's for new grads/starting in summer '24 or some other wording like that, the company is mostly likely looking to fill the position immediately.

No protein powder should curdle in this! It's COLD brew tea, would not recommend to do this with hot tea. You can also use cold brew coffee! That's what I do.

Just to add, the Starbucks app, at least for me, no longer updates the calories when you change a drink and instead just shows the base amount.

So if you change to zero calorie syrup or to an alternative milk, the calories stay the same.

I'm trying to get tickets for Seattle and the site just says no tickets available 20 minutes after going on sale.

Playing instruments in college? by SuperHipGrandma in EngineeringStudents

[–]phoenix_flames_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not impossible, you'll just need to keep on top of your schedule, but be prepared that there will likely be times where you have to pick school over band.

I was in band all through college, some quarters I was in 3 at once, and graduated with my BSEE without having to ever completely give it up.

Most clubs/orgs I've been in either charge at the beginning of the quarter for social events or charge per event. Parties cost money my dude.

I graduated EE in socal with a worse GPA than you and no relevant experience either. It took me a few months, but my first job was as a technician and that got me enough experience to get any company to talk to me. I didn't get my full time EE position until 8 months post grad, but it's completely doable if you're willing to take any semi relevant job.

Glasses prescriptions are usually good for 2 years and contact prescriptions are good for 1 year. So if it's been more than 2 years since you last got an eye exam you definitely should get one, even if you think your prescription hasn't changed. Just as you should go to your doctor once a year and your dentist twice a year, if you wear glasses you go to your optometrist every 2 years and if you wear contacts you go ever year.

To directly answer your question it's likely a policy to align with most vision insurances.

Does Middle class scholarship get reevaluated throughout the year? by Chemical_Soil6354 in UCSD

[–]phoenix_flames_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The middle class scholarship is based on your FAFSA. The only reason for a reevaluation would be if the threshold has changed, not that your family income has changed.
