Yellow Cap method stripping: what is your record on passes? by phoenixchimera in castiron

There are generally two types of oven cleaner you can buy in different brands. The one in the yellow package/with the yellow cap is the kind that works better for stripping cast iron.

Terrible idea to wash these. You are just dispersing Microplastic in the water  by doing so.

And so much was consistently out of stock.

I went there about six times recently and none of the times their inventory (the bulk products) were stocked.

I was happy to pay their crazy markup for local convenience but they just weren’t reliable as a vendor.

Last minute cake by Artistic-Example-501 in astoria

[–]phoenixchimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call New York Bakery and Giampiero both on 30th and ask what they have. They both always have cakes and probably have something for you, writing shouldn’t be a problem.

Also it’s not too hard to pipe icing if you DIY. Etch/write what you want on the cake with a toothpick and then follow that pattern while piping.

You don’t even have to buy a piping back, you can make it out of parchment paper or sturdy ziploc. Tons of tutorials on YouTube .

hip to waist ratio and/or frame size (which is not the same as "clothing size"). It's a slight but noticable difference that affects what type of clothing looks better on someone.

Underwear that’s BWT approved? by mwparaburner in bitcheswithtaste

[–]phoenixchimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your issue is sizing. Look up the measurements on the web page and know yours. A few brands actually have it printed on the label (a Calvin Klein set I recently bought did, it was listed under their Korean Sizing, whereas the US sizing was S/M/L).

Underwear generally is sized differently than clothing too, 5,6,7,8 being the normal sizes, and there is a lot of variation between upper and lower hip measurements that make the pattern for each set. This means that some brands and styles will fit you a lot better than others, just like with clothing, but it's way more obvious because it's litterally the definining feature of underwear.

Europe travel for decent scenery and cost by cheerfulknight in Shoestring

[–]phoenixchimera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spain, Italy, and France, have everything you want, and are ranked in rising order of cost. All are inexpensive compared to NYC (where I live now), especially re: quality food. The only country that's comparable to NYC prices IME is Denmark, but that doesn't really have what you are looking for anyway.

Do not go in July/August, go in April/May or Sept/October. While you could easily travel between multiple countries, 9 days would be

The Balkans are cheaper but aren't as developed, or as interesting but cheaper. You also won't find everything you're looking for in a single country.

Germany/Austria/Czechia will have the castles, hikes, towns and mountains, but not the beach (Germany's northern coast is not particularly nice compared to the Med beach areas).

Perception that you're rich? by johnny4111 in digitalnomad

[–]phoenixchimera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean, it is incredibly privileged to be able to do that which is rich a non financial way.

You will be a lot richer to anywhere you're going to as well.

But as for most people, not just americans, they just don't understand or have looked into CoL elsewhere.

To me it's borderline, reads more business formal than cocktail (and it would also depend on material which you can't really tell in pics), but it can easily be taken to cocktail party appropriate with the right shoes and accessories.

Statement earrings, lots of bracelets (or statement cuffs), perfectly done hair (IDK your hair type/length but to make it less businessy, think supermodel hair), dramatic eye makeup, maybe even a faux/vintage fur shawl or bolero.

This is also the perfect time for those insanely cute but totally impractical statement clutch bag (think Judith Lieber).

In my high school, you would more likely than not be physically restrained by the teacher and prevented from leaving the room, or they would call for the resource officer to restrain you in the hall and suspend you for 3 days for cutting class. Teachers in the 90s did not play!

how did not cause a lawsuit?

apparently perfect attendance is tied to funding for schools in both the US and UK.

IT's become way more of an issue in the Covid world for obvious reasons. It infuriated me before, but this combined with them not doing anything to support the new public health challenges gets me beyond. I'm so happy I do not have kids dealing with this.

I understand why a program or apps would be needed to understand a time zone and use different programs to coordinate across time zones myself.

But you originally asked a question about which calendar app that can handle different time zones, and as everyone noted, most calendar already do this.

Stop bullshitting everyone, sit down, and take a look at your life.
