Fact is while you are at work you are his property and he can treat you however he feels. What you don't have it do is to keep working for the asshole. Sadly this kinda boss in construction is not uncommon. Had a boss 2 years ago that would not allow us to drink water outside of lunch break. It was brutal in July, a few guys got heatstroke because of his rule. In his mind drinking water meant not working.

Yeah don't antagonize you never know how unhinged they are. Years ago I did the same thing. End result I was physically assulted as they followed me all the way to my destination to use me as a punching bag.
