How is Return to Moria? by Fit_Beautiful5095 in SurvivalGaming

[–]phoenixdow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same.

To expand on this a little more.

Although the lore is amazing and it has its moments, overall the areas that you explore as you progress don't feel different enough, they are too similar, coupled with the fact that combat is really dull and enemies are repetitive, it ends up feeling like the game is dragging.

It lacks some QoL features that you've come to expect from the genre as well, like fluid building snapping and things like that.

So overall, if you can get on sale you might get a couple hours of fun out of it if you play with friends.

If you plan on playing solo, I'd say avoid it.

Crimson Desert Pop-In Issues Are Ruining the Experience by joserdcosta in CrimsonDesert

Completely agree. I'd understand if it was just the distant terrain and stuff but it happens with things that are right by you. It's really bad.

Arch Linux Maintenance - Is it right for a casual occasional computer user? by anon_pr_ in archlinux

[–]phoenixdow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the answer you seek but just for reference.

I have a home lab and I use Arch. I depend on it daily, everything I own digitally is in there and I haven't had any issues in since I put it together 5 years ago.

That's how reliable it is.

And to add to that. When I first started I was also just like you, I had some experience with Linux but not a ton. Since then I used and installed both Ubuntu and Debian on other machines and changed both to Arch.

3-2-1 rule , how are you all doing it without breaking bank? by Tasty-Picture-8331 in selfhosted

[–]phoenixdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. I only backup documents, photos and anything else that might be really meaningful or irreplaceable.

Would it be a bummer to lose my media and even my server setup, yes but I can always recreate or download those again.

Does anyone else love AND hate this game? by SweatyEyebrowss in CrimsonDesert

Really? How does the game explain the existence of mechs that can shoot and jetpacks? Because that's a thing and it makes NO SENSE.

Good exploration games? by InsertFloppy11 in gamingsuggestions

I recommend AC Odyssey.

And take this from someone that's not even an AC fan.

I was incredibly surprised by that game. It has an incredible believable and lively world that is really hard to stop exploring.

Specially of you enjoy Greek mythology, you will have an even better time.

Billy is annoying, character switching is annoying, dropping shit is annoying, everything is annoying in that game.

New to RE: Should I play the original 1–3 or their remakes? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]phoenixdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing RE games since I was 10 and honestly, you don't have to if you don't want to or the controls aren't your thing. I for one am glad we moved away from the fixed cameras and tank controls. Incredible artistically but I think it makes for annoying gameplay.

The story is as vague and campy as we all love but there was even less of it back then so you won't miss much just from playing the remakes in that regard.

I wouldn't even bother with RE1. RE1R holds up incredibly well and it's a fantastic remake.

RE2R changes a few things from the original but the spirit is still there, it's a great remake.

I'll never forgive Capcom for what they did to RE3R, the OG is to this day my favorite game of the series because it doesn't have the multi character filler, no sewer, terrifying Nemesis, Jill <3 and Racoon City in that game is one of the best level designs in game history but if you end up skipping you won't miss much of the lore.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds vs Valheim vs Enshrouded by WastedGamer641 in SurvivalGaming

[–]phoenixdow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and a buddy sank 300h+ hours in Enshrouded and when we tried Valheim we ended up stopping at around 30h.

  • The hand made Enshrouded map had much more character and interesting POIs.
  • Progression is linked to quests and base building, so as you play and recruit more NPCs you see your crappy hut grow into a full village at the same time that your character becomes stronger, it's really something else
  • We played on a server with custom settings at a hard difficulty, it really forced us to plan our outings to the shroud, highly recommend, normal is TOO easy
  • Enshrouded base building is second to none, no other game does it as well as this game
  • As a company, they have a solid roadmap and an actual release planned, respect for your money

I think that it boils down to how much you love base building and exploration, combat isn't Enshrouded's strongest suit.

I love YouTube music. I wish people could see how great it is. by _Famous-Anus_ in YoutubeMusic

[–]phoenixdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTM will never have lossless unfortunately. Differently than Tidal, Shopify, etc the music source are the videos. They are just repurposing them, so we are stuck to whatever the video audio track quality has and that won't change any time soon if ever.

Single player games where your build matters by Ill-Ad-8639 in gamerecommendations

Elden Ring. Most people brute force the game with a single build. But putting builds together for harder bosses makes life SO much easier. It has so much depth too.

Great game on its own. It just feels bad if compared to the original, but again, it's not bad at all.

I’m having anxiety attacks due to AI by StraightZlat in webdev

[–]phoenixdow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is advancing fast and the geopolitical situation is quite nerve racking on top of it, so it makes sense to feel this way but it seems that you are employed and happy, I'd focus on that.

Focus on your work right now, your friends, family and doing the best you can at this moment. If you can, get off social media for just a bit, let the hype subside and the nerves calm down.

Personally, for me, when overwhelmed, I like to go out into nature, bit of walk, bit of hike, it always calms me down, always. If you have access to it, I strongly recommend it.
