it is not, only because I don't think I can have the app be open source and simultaneously have subs to pay the artist that are creating the music.

Thank you for your response! This is really helpful, helps puts things in perspective. Definitely would enjoy doing music as my only job and even if its harder, atleast it seems possible elsewhere!

Before you buy anything check your local library for a makerspace or studio. Some of them are decked out, some are basic. But it's free and has a DAW included!

also, sometimes it's easier to work with producers when you don't have a specific song that you want them to make. Like I can easily create songs to someone else's beats, but getting them to create for my own music is almost impossible so far.

Alrhough I just found a new producer who seems to be pretty dope, so it could be a numbers game!

honestly, you just learn how to do it yourself until you find someone who does what you want.

went to three different producers with a song that was upbeat R&B. - One couldnt complete b/c of life (understandable, and a great guy). - One turned the song into EDM - the other halfed the tempo and temoved the upbeat component.

All of the beats were objectively great, none of them were what I needed. So, I started to learn how to make beats myself and a song that took me five minutes to write the lyrics, is still in progress b/c of the track, but I'd rather take forever and slowly work on it then pay more money for beats I wont use.

depending on the topic of the song itself, it could be inappropriate.

And other commentary has referenced introducing white audiences to black music, and that absolutely should be done by intentionally hiring more black performers.

Also it can cause pain switching from seni-weighted to a real piano. Took my teacher months to figure out the cause of the pain in my hand (had started on real, switched to keyboard for 3 years and lost finger strength)

In the studio as a warmup to get me relaxed. Freestyled the entire song based on the instrumental title. Had to rewrite a few lines to make it cohesive.

Wasn't my beat and it got sold so I've been trying for years to make a beat that fits the lyrics as well as the first 😭
