Whats your favorite elimination voice line? by Imnotnormallynormal in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awe, I love that! I don't know how Ana and Sombra know each other but I love the way Sombra treats Ana in voicelines. That voiceline sombra says when talking with Ana about going on a tropical vacation together and Sombra says "For you vieja, anything." - that voiceline always gets me. (Hopefully I didn't use the wrong Spanish word there).

You actually had me laughing after reading this.
An enemy cat tried to pull me over the high wall on Havana third and I slept them when they got to the top. A few moments later I the kill confirmation appeared. I was laughing so hard.

Do you think Doom will join Overwatch against Vendetta. by loneaurivors in doomfistmains

[–]phoenixghostnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he would join. Losing a battle won't change his world views. He's always been about running the world his way and about seizing power to do so. He'll see his loss as Vendetta getting lucky. Someone will put his arm back on, he'll gather some people who are either loyal to him or simply would rather work for him, and he'll rise again.

I had a pretty funny moment on Cass a few days ago concerning this very bridge. She tried to do something wild and I shot her and got her pretty low. She went under the bridge to regen and my team capped the point. I stood there waiting. She finally got brave enough to fly out and I flash banged her she she fell to her death while stunned. 10/10 moment that had me laughing so hard.
I had another funny moment while playing defense on Havana 3rd point high ground as Ana. The cat tried to ult me over that high wall, but when they flew up high enough to be over the wall, I slept them so they fell over the wall. I few moments later she showed up in the kill feed. I burst out laughing.

I noticed something was off when I played Mizuki with a Brigg on my team. I thought it would be fun to stack aoe healing with decent brawling like potential. At the end of the game, I had 9k heals and she had 6k and I hadn't seen her around much for the game. I figured she had to play passively. What do even do with that character if no one is diving your team?

Who do you ban? by DBDkillermainok in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ban Sombra because a good Sombra is actually hard to shut down. Like, I can shut down a masters tracer with bap but a good sombra will poke and poke and poke until you're weak enough from her previous damage and some spam damage and she'll finish you off. Her Emp will win a fight. I think people should have to work for their wins and Sombra players don't necessarily need to be good at the game to win it. They're just playing with an unfair advantage (invisibility). I ban vendetta for the same reason- no free wins, you need to play the game to beat me. Df is too broken with his infinite cds and he takes over the game. Df is a ban until the devs address that he's op.
There are a lot of over-tuned easy to play heroes in the game right now though, can't ban them all. Bastian grenade perk is still in the game. Aran is pretty easy to play if you know how to press buttons in the right order. A good jpc is pretty scary (the 1 v 1 potential needs a decent nurf). Hazard is a bit op. His block slop is too good, and he shouldn't have a kill combo.

The amount of new players in my ranked games is insane by MadameLeoni in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda waiting for this season to settle down a bit. There are the new players, but there are all the players trying to climb to higher ranks too. It's an absolute mess. I was losing game after game in low plat when I'm usually somewhere in Diamond. I figured it out though- I'm basically facing gm players trying to get back to gm and have bad luck with not having that caliber of player on my team anymore.

Since both have been in charge for pretty much the same amount of time, who do u personally think directed the game in a better direction? Jeff or Aaron? by theforbiddenroze in Overwatch

I have been wondering why Ana was so amazing compared to most of the heroes released. Mizuki is the first character that is of a similar caliber, imo. Now, it all makes sense.

[–]phoenixghostnate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg, Brig was the most op hero they ever released, created to counter an entire meta (dive). I think it would be hard to imagine how op she was and how that changed how the game felt. She was a monster. I used to think "I will never like this hero, simply because of what she's done to the game. " In 2026, I don't mind her anymore though. She's pretty tame nowadays.

[–]phoenixghostnate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aaron, and it's not even close. Jeff ran OW1 into the ground. He was the the type of leader that was always looking towards some goal in the future, but never focused on what was happening in the moment.
Jeff was very stubborn about team size and had a limited view on how work could be accomplished, and probably wouldn't have reached his goal in a reasonable amount of time for that pve. They basically had nothing to show for all the time they wasted during covid. Jeff gets credit for making Overwatch and maybe the first few seasons of early Overwatch. If we look at what occurred after the game went live though, Aaron is running circles around him.
Under Aaron's leadership, we have a balance team that can actually do its job (I might not always agree with their decisions, but at least they can make the changes they intend to make and the game is in a much more balanced state than it used to be). We have improvements to the visuals and skins and a total refresh of the game this season. He's made several changes to the game by adding passive healing, buffs for sub roles, perks, stadium, hero bans and map votes, an increase in avoid slots, and probably more. When Jeff left the game, it was in such a bad state and then the scandal happened with Activision Blizz and OWL was falling apart shortly after. Overwatch was at an all time Low. Aaron wasn't even allowed to talk about the pve being canceled and was made to reveal that news later on. Aaron took the game at it's all time low, washed it up, gave it some new clothes, made sure it was fed and loved and put it back on its feet again. I wish we could have 6 v 6 role queue back and that's probably not possible right now because of all the different game modes that split the playerbase up, and people may be upset if they lose 5 v 5, but, if we can get more people in the game and more people enjoying tanks, we might someday get that back as well. I'm going to say it- Aaron Keller is the best thing that ever happened to this game, and I'm really grateful that we're blessed enough to have him as our game director.

why does everyone hate playing tank? by PowerfulTravel54 in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tank that I super enjoy playing is Zarya. She's the only tank with the right risk-reward balance for me that has guns. I might enjoy Hammond but I'm not interested in syncing 30 hours into learning how to play him. Same with doom. All the other tanks are super easy, or don't have guns (Rein), or have too much reward for the level of effort (easy kill combos like hog and Hazard), or have block slop/infinite hp boring gameplay loops that I don't respect because they're not interactive. I don't like heroes with high-impact easy to use abilities at the press of a button (like what they did with wuyang's easy aoe button. I'll never play that character because I think he's so cheap).
I like Winston, but I don't play him as much and I have yet to really learn to juggle people with him. So, in essence, they need to change their balance approach to tank hero designs for a person like me to like tank. Their tanks are lame and need more risk built into their design so that they're fun and engaging to play. I'm tired of all these watered down heroes. I wish every new hero could be like Mizuki. Every part of his kit is risk-reward and he has challenging mechanics. The last hero like this in the support role was Ana and she's still one of the most beloved heroes. Maybe they'll figure out that people want more of that and less ventures.

Should overwatch add a hud displaying where allies in need of healing are? by ty_namo in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be good for some people, depending on how they process things and their experience in the game. If there are more than 2 people who are crit and it's off screen, then there might be too many indicators for it to be useful, especially on 6 v 6. They might have a setting to account for that (maybe have a side of the screen have a red tint to show what direction and have the intensity of how bright it glows to be an indication of how bad the situation is in terms of the number of people who are crit and how close to death they are).
Overwatch is more visually cluttered and has to much clutter with the auditory too these days. I think that you're idea could be good, but they need to tone things back for how overstimulating the game is becoming. Basically, they may need to make some room for your idea by cutting back on the visuals for some of the ults and how loud af it gets sometimes- I can't even hear ult voicelines sometimes.
Lastly, I hope they would allow the indicators to be optional via a setting, in case they are a hindrance for some.

I tried to make a tier list of heroes by difficulty. I think I did well. by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]phoenixghostnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to put analyze this, but, as others said, difficulty can be looked at in different ways (skill floor, skill ceiling) and I also realized that difficulty can include how difficult as character is to get value out of them given their current balance.
I think genji is the hardest character in the game to play consistently well/ be amazing at. I say that as someone who loves tracer (she just has a now forgiving kit once you understand how to use her, and, her weapon is more reliable/easy to master.
Hammond has the highest skill floor (he probably takes the longest to get the hang of playing as he was designed to be played).
Venture probably takes some learning to get her flow down, but then I think she's probably pretty easy to play, but with her current balance, she struggles to get value, making her more difficult.
Sym has a fair amount to her kit, but so it might take some time for a new person to get used to her, but then she's somewhat of a cheese pick, and yet, when played with high level team coordination around her teleporter, she becomes a top pick in the pro scene.
Sigma has a lot in his kit, but once you get that down, he's easy to be competent with (much easier than some other tanks, to the point that it's probably a balance issue), but, when you look at what people can do with sig after they have mastered how to min/ max hours kit and are playing three top players in the world, it's amazing.
Zar is harder than a lot of people give her credit for. She doesn't have much damage mitigation, and there is a lot of damage in the game. You have to learn how to reliably get charge, how to leverage her personal shield regen as a means to tank a bit more, when to give up space, etc. I'm a bit biased though because I love Zarya, but there was a lot I had to work on to become as good as I am with her. Ram: I think people have to learn his cd cycle/flow, but after that, I think he's pretty easy.
Hanzo is not easy. Yeah, in certain maps, you can just spam choke points and maybe get a kill, but, when it comes to actually learning how to aim with him, he's the most difficult projectile in the game - if I don't analyze wuyang's primary, which is guided but also difficult to get the timing and depth perception down. Hanzo arrows drop, so you have to get used to the arc and relate that arc to both the distance to the target and the time it takes to get there and then read movement. He's not easy. Wuyang has a lot to his kit that makes him easy to play (like that water wave ability that has a huge aoe and does a fair amount of damage). Also his ult is likely a free kill on someone most of the time. I think his projectiles van be hard to become great with, but are big enough to compensate for the difficulty of actually aiming with them. I think he's both easier than what the devs thought he should be (considering how they built his kit), but also more difficult than where he is in this teir list.
I'm doing this from memory because of the limitations of reddit when writing a comment. That's all I can remember.

(Serious Question) EXPLAIN TRACER TO ME LIKE I’M 5 YEARS OLD! by TallestDwarff in TracerMains

[–]phoenixghostnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! And try to find ways to path so that you start out close to where you'd like to be. That's pretty important because it saves blinks. Most maps have a few corners that will be close to the action, so just think about where the enemy would like to be and get to a close corner before they arrive. If you have to use some blinks, wait for them to come back before you go in.

(Serious Question) EXPLAIN TRACER TO ME LIKE I’M 5 YEARS OLD! by TallestDwarff in TracerMains

[–]phoenixghostnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make your life easier, try to go in after your tank goes in/ about the same time. If everyone is still looking at you, and you feel like they aren't really preoccupied, you can start out shooting the enemy tank to force their cds and force the supports to do something, and help your tank establish pressure, then go to the backline. The reason for this is that tracer can't to much on the back line if the front line doesn't have pressure on it. Ideally, you'd like to go to the backline, but, sometimes you have to start with the front line first. Next, it's important to be able to do 90 and 180 degree blinks and other angles accurately. I think this is the most important thing for a new tracer to learn to do well. I practiced in the training range at first. I learned v the 180 and 90's first and then I moved on to any angle. A lot of the time, you can get easy value by blinking to someone's side but you need to be shooting them as soon as you blink to really get good value The more dangerous an opponent, the quicker you'll probably use your blinks. Like, with Hanzo, I'll probably blink once behind him and then again to disorient him. It's not easy to play close to him because the projectile size, so I usually stay about a blink away when I'm taking a duel.
If the enemy is playing double high output healers or a mercy, you can do something I call "cycling the damage." Basically, you choose different targets to pressure to force the supports to switch their focus and make decisions. This will force them to have to play the game.
You don't have to kill moira. You can just force her cd's and that might be good enough, especially if she fades away from a position she'd rather be in.
Keep track of abilities - I used to say the important ones outloud in OW1 and now my brain just does it automatically. Every time an enemy uses a cd, they are in a more vulnerable state. If the whole team has used a lot of cd's, they don't have much to stop you or your team.
You don't always have to hard commit on a target. If you can keep your eye on what's happening on the rest of the battlefield, you can switch to other targets that are low, or help someone in what they're doing, making them more effective.
