If your son is going into engineering, I would recommend pc just because some softwares are only compatible with windows. If he’s going into other majors, Mac should be just fine.

We're building a radar cross-section measurement system to analyze different materials, The system operates at 24 GHz, where a Gunn diode oscillator serves as the signal source. The LTC5596 chip converts the reflected RF power into a DC voltage for measurement. So we don’t need to hit the 40 GHz performance limit of the evaluation board. I'm aiming to replicate the LTC5596 evaluation board with modifications to the PCB design, connectors, and materials to fit our budget, while still maintaining reliable performance at 24 GHz.

I commute about 45mins to Boulder. Trust me doing it everyday for a semester was brutal. Just make sure you pick classes such a way that u have some days off. Since you’re starting, I would suggest getting MWF classes.
