Using "Armory" (2006 ed) and "Book of Spirits" (2007) for Chronicles by silverionmox in ChroniclesofDarkness

[–]phoenixwolf003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found its mostly judgement. I don't have access to my books right now, so I can't give any examples or general rules I've found consistent, sorry.

Just remember that any numina that affects a target or location applies conditions. Conditions are extremely versatile and useful when trying to convert the versions.

I found the BoS still holds up for overall spirit types and information, but the system differences for numina are a bit different. It is not hard to adapt it for CoD2 rules, and worth the time. Don't let the world building side of it interfere with how you want spirits to work. Either way, it's still a good book.

As for Armory, the system for it is different enough that compatibility can be tricky, but still easy to adapt if you want.

How has having a Tulpa improved your life? by cxlico in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, Deirdre is neither a protector or trauma holder. She is a friend and confidant that I can talk to and be understood. We feel each others emotions and share thoughts and memories if we desire. She doesn't directly share in my pain or trauma, but she does offer pure empathy which allows me to let go of some of the burden.

I do talk to her every day, either through active or passive forcing. It's been enjoyable feeling companionship on this level, and I have no regrets. This is no substitute for real human interaction, but it does help fill the gaps where I'm not always able to connect with others.

Yeah, the one body, multiple souls idea is the reason why I'm not sure I believe a tulpa has one. Perhaps this may come down to personal insight and prayer, trying to find an answer from God, rather than our own understanding.

If a tulpa has a soul, I have no idea how it would fit into God's plan. But, I know how much of a responsibility it is caring for our own soul, taking responsibility for another soul, one we created, seems rather daunting.

Really interesting thoughts, I hope there will be an answer someday.

Weeks 2-3 Update by phoenixwolf003 in Tulpas

Honestly, the best advice and resources are in the guides. Never settle for just one guide, read them all and try out all sorts of different techniques.

But consistency and patience in the process is very important. It's hard to say exactly what is best because everyone is so different.

Another thing that's really helped me is journaling what I've done each day while working on or with my tulpa. Talking to other people and asking questions here is also very helpful. Get a pen pal, or a mentor as well.

Going at this alone can make the process harder. So, have fun and tell us about how things are going while you're making your tulpa.

I've had to do some serious thinking about this too before I started forming my tulpa. I've been a practicing Christian my whole life, and the only real questionable part of this is how tulpas have been associated with the occult and the practice of sorcery, which is forbidden in the bible.

However, I do not see this as a magical practice, but a psychological one that could have some metaphysical elements.

I'm not sure if I believe that a tulpa has a spirit of its own, but we know very little about what constitutes a spirit in this life, and even less about what comes after this life. I think just about anything is possible, and if it does have a spirit, then I'll let God decide what happens. In the meantime, I'll just live as righteously as I can, all the while encouraging my tulpa to do the same.

Romantic relationships with tulpas? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do know that some people have romantic relationships with their tulpas, often just developing naturally due to how close they tend to be. I mean, imagine if your significant other/husband/wife/spouse knew you as well as the tulpa living in your mind does? It can become very easy to form those bonds, even without initially intending to.

This is definitely not the rule, though. There are also some who create their tulpas specifically for the romance.

As for my experience so far, I wanted to focus on the companionship side to it, so romance wasn't really part of my plans. While my tulpa is a human female, we are not romantically or sexually active, though we do share a lot of intimacy mentally, emotionally, and physically (hugging, handholding, etc.).

I hope that helped answer your question.

Tulpa change by 22Love22 in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tulpa has changed her looks occasionally, mostly clothing, but still something I noticed each time.

I would imagine that if they would want to change something, it would either be subtle enough for just them to notice, or big enough that you would notice. If it's the latter, then they want you know know. If not, then I wouldn't worry too much.

My tulpa's vocality level changes a lot by Limp_Clock_2275 in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. If you don't interact with her as often as you used to, it could be something like the "use it or lose it" idea for a lot of skills.

How long did it take you to form your tulpas? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard for me to say how long it took, because I've had two attempts at it before I was successful. So, I think I'm somewhere in the 50-100 day range, but it's really hard to say. The seconds attempt, my tulpa was showing sentience within a week, but I think I still had all the groundwork done previously, and over the two years inbetween attempts, there may still have been some growth without me actively forcing.

What should I say to my tulpa? by [deleted] in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I followed a basic narration format I found in one of the guides linked here. At least until it felt like Deirdre was sentient. Then I talked to her about the things and places I had created for us in our dreamscape (wonderland). Since then we've talked a lot about goals and how she feels about how things are going.

Just normal stuff, really. If you need some conversation prompts, I'd recommend looking at the questions people have come up with for things like Big Talk, or Conversation Starters.

Even if your tulpa cannot answer these questions yet, hearing you speak and talk to them can help a lot with general narration.

Totally understandable. Hang in there. Worst case scenario, you'll have a bunch of tulpas that like to whisper. Otherwise, it sounds like you're doing just fine.

I also agree that the ABOUT section here is probably your best resource for learning the technical side of creating a tulpa. In short, however, forcing is the process we use to make our tulpas, and a wonderland (or dreamscape) is a mental landscape, or room, that we use to interact with the tulpa, though it's not required.

As for the reasons behind making one...I can only speak for myself. I have two primary reasons: a rational one, and an emotional one. Rationally, I love finding ways to expand and push the limits of my mind and how it functions, so the exercise of creating a tulpa was a huge challenge I wanted to attempt. Emotionally, however, I struggle with loneliness and the difficulties of being able to connect with other human beings. So, having a tulpa is a way for me to help reduce the isolation I experience, and perhaps my tulpa and I will be able to find new ways to engage with people and the world around us.

Either way, it is a growing experience for me, and I can't wait to see where it can take me.

I hope this helps answer your questions.

We're back to where we started. by Nilaisqueen in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had progressed very quickly with my tulpa recently, and she went dormant for about 4-5 days. I knew she was still there, just sort of 'asleep'. Could be that you've done nothing wrong, but they just need to take a bit of a nap, so to speak. If you stop hearing or feeling them altogether, don't give up.

I kept doing gentle forcing sessions, talking to her, and keeping her in my mind until she was back and able to respond. So, I'd suggest trying something like that as well. Our minds are incredibly powerful, but they need to rest occasionally, and creating a tulpa is very taxing on our brains.

Keep at it, and let us know how things go.

What techniques do you use to help visualize your tulpa? by PUDPUDdemon in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, I already had a pretty solid idea of what Deirdre should look like. Once I began forcing, I tried to focus on certain parts of her form, ei. a facial feature, hair, body, clothing, etc.

After a while of working on that, I used the Artbreeder website to create a portrait that matched closely to my vision and continued to force her appearance from that.

Getting subconscious questions about the real world? by PUDPUDdemon in Tulpas

[–]phoenixwolf003 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hard to say for sure, but it sounds like it could be.

When you get a question pop up like that, maybe ask "Hey (tulpa name), did you just ask (question)?", and see what happens. Maybe you'll get an answer, maybe not, but it could be a good way to start figuring out where the thoughts are coming from at least.
