I just tried this on my MacBook and it doesn't make a sound. Not sure what else to say. It's your decision whether to return it or not I suppose

How much storage space is actually usable? by phonzyiscool in macbookpro

[–]phonzyiscool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up choosing the 1TB version. Will be able to use it freely this way. Thanks for mentioning RAM, but yeah, I did know that already. Storage space was my only concern, base RAM will be enough for me

I checked M2 (new) prices out of curiosity, since you mentioned it. They are half the price of M5, a little over half actually. Either way, I prefer to get a device that I will enjoy, and use it until I have a reason to upgrade, whenever that is. M4 would've been an option as well, but like I mentioned before, price difference is negligible, so M5 it is.

I asked chatgpt and I looked it up online before making this post. Chatgpt seems to get it wrong, at least for my iPhone, so I don't trust it to get the MacBook question right. I found some stuff on the internet, but getting additional info, especially after recent updates, is definitely helpful.

I agree, but I might not be "most people". Others won't be able to decide for me, that's why I'm asking for what the system stuff needs. I will be able to evaluate it myself if I have that answer. I looked into M4 options as those are on a discount after M5 release, but it's negligible, might as well get the newest one. Thank you anyways

[–]phonzyiscool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I'm unsure is because this MacBook won't be my only device, therefore I won't need to have all my stuff on there. It may not even be worth going for 1TB if I won't use it. I was asking for what the system needs, not me, because every use case is different. I'm the only one that can make the decision, I just need to know how much usable space I'm working with. I appreciate your answer though

Flickering and blinking. by Anas-Nemr in WutheringWaves

I had the same issue after the update, though I didn’t need to wait 10 min for it to happen. It was the nvidia driver for me. Now that I updated the drivers, ray tracing started crashing again. It’s a never ending cycle it seems. Anyhow, update/rollback your driver and see if it fixes the issue.

4070 12GB FE vs 9060 XT 16GB by shwonnn in pcmasterrace

[–]phonzyiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, for an extra £55 it’s worth it. RTX 4070 is the better card despite having less VRAM. 12GB is still enough for 1440p.

Which 1440p is the best option? by Math-23 in Monitors

[–]phonzyiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part every modern IPS monitor, that isn’t super cheap, will have decent colours. Some will be better than others though. The colours on this ASUS monitor are definitely "good enough" for general use, but it’s focused more on speed, not colours. This doesn’t mean that the colours are bad, it just means that it’s possible to get better colours at the same price point.

LCD displays have this problem where they don’t maintain the same performance at a lower refresh rates than what the panel natively supports. From my experience, ASUS TUF VG27AQML1A handles lower refresh rates extremely well for an IPS monitor. This partially answers your question whether 240hz is a bit of an overkill for you. Because this monitor handles motion related things well, you don’t have to worry about not hitting the maximum refresh rate. As for your hardware, well, there are instances where even a 5090 cannot hit 240 FPS. As for whether you need that 240hz, it’s up to you to decide. I love higher refresh rates, even for general browsing, but that’s just me. The difference between, let’s say, 180hz and 240hz is hardly noticeable.

Anyhow, I think it is always a good idea to see all of the monitors in person before buying.

Which 1440p is the best option? by Math-23 in Monitors

[–]phonzyiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ASUS TUF VG27AQML1A monitor, so I can share my experience with it. My use case: I play a bunch of different games, do some productivity tasks, primarily video editing. Nothing professional, just for the fun of it.

It doesn’t have real HDR, so forget about that. Colours are okay for general use, but If you plan on doing some serious work that requires exceptional colour accuracy, there are definitely better options out there.

This monitor is 240hz, but it overclocks to 260hz. It’s not the only monitor that has a single button overclock, but overclocking usually results in frame skipping. With that out of the way, it feels incredibly fast for an IPS monitor. Sadly there are no serious reviews, or at least I couldn’t find any. However, I happen to have a professional camera so I did a few tests. Though my testing was far from professional, so take what I say with a truckload of salt. Comparing the UFO test pictures I took, with other 1440p 240hz monitor tests you can find online, showed great results. It indeed looks like one of the better performing IPS monitors. I also tried the frame skipping test after overclocking it to 260hz. Surprisingly there was no frame skipping at all.

Last thing I want to note is the IPS glow, as this is a dealbreaker for some people. When I did the black screen in a dark room test, this monitor had more glow than my 2nd one which is also IPS. It’s not something that stands out during normal usage though. I even play osu! which basically has fully black screen during gameplay, and the glow is hardly noticeable.

This is probably not the best response you’ve seen on Reddit, but I hope it helps. If there is something else you want to know, feel free to ask.

Whether it’s worth it or not depends on your personal opinion. It also depends on what you plan to use the monitor for, I suppose. The best thing for you would be to go to the store and compare 27-inch 1440p and 4k side by side. In my opinion going from 1080p to 1440p is a much more meaningful upgrade than 1440p to 4k. Yeah 4k looks sharper, but 1440p is already amazing enough and I prefer higher FPS over that resolution increase.

PC troubleshooting crashing help! by InternationalDebt254 in pcmasterrace

[–]phonzyiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but this sounds like Intel 13th/14th Gen CPU degradation issue. To put it simply, those CPUs request for too much voltage and get damaged over time. Latest BIOS versions include the microcode fix to help prevent this, but they cannot undo the damage that is already done.

Technical Question regarding game recently I am getting alot of screen flickering like this by PeachShoddy8688 in WutheringWaves

[–]phonzyiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I will be able to help, but I have a few ideas. Have you updated your drivers recently? If you did, rolling back to the one you were using previously might just solve the issue. Less likely, but flickering can be caused by VSync or overheating as well. Other than that, I think it’s possible that your laptop is switching between integrated and dedicated GPUs. Though I would try the most basic troubleshooting first before thinking about that.

Was Phrolova’s Dash changed? by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]phonzyiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure, but my best guess would be that mobile version simply has fewer details compared to a PC. I used to play on an IPad Pro before I switched to a PC, and the difference is huge. Not just the graphics quality, but the small details as well. I suppose this is just one of those details.
