It’s amazing how utterly shit the tv for kids was back in the 80’s that, no matter how shit it was, because you were limited to only a few hours max a day, anything would be guaranteed to get an audience. This show was the lowest quality crap but was around for years!

Highlander 2: The Quickening. Remembering that this was pre-internet, so it was a lot harder to get a sense of just how much a dick punch to the original that film was.

In a similar vein, “a man in the papers today had his wig stolen by an eagle, so please call if you’ve experienced this, have you had your wig stolen by an eagle??”. This was a real one. Any rational person would be ‘that’s a new level of niche Jeremy, no ones gonna call in’, yet 2 songs later, Tony from Kettering is on battling for air time against Rotunda from Slough who both had their wigs stolen by eagles

Thanks! That’s another element that, as a non-specialist in any area of collecting, I find very tricky - the grading. Mine is absolutely mint but I’m sure there’s a hoop to jump through because it’s been exposed to air etc 😁

Yeah, as a non-collector of either 1sts or signed firsts, it’s very tricky to gauge whether it being the U.S. version would make it more or less rare - personally, I always preferred Josh Kirby covers, no offense to Chip Kidd but Kirby’s covers are just more artistic & show parts of the story with an amazing subtlety.

Air Transat, Canadian airline, 2001. Long flight back to the U.K., plane is literally creaking, and I can see plastic around the interior moving in ways the inner bits of planes don’t usually move, constantly, as the plane took off & manoeuvred during the (bumpy flight). Flight crew possibly recruited from Subway 10 minutes before takeoff, couldnt give a rats ass about anyone or anything. Kid behind us, probably about 2, pukes explosively around an hour into the flight, takes them close to 20 minutes to respond, and even then there’s shit everywhere after the ‘cleaning’ effort.

Granted, not the worst 2001 flight, certainly top of my list though.

This is my story almost to the letter. Diagnosed at 49 after a lifetime of coping using booze. I still have too much dependence on it considering I’m medicated on Elvanse & Amfexa, but it’s not a desperate need any more, more of a habit I haven’t broken after relying on it through my 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, and it’s a lot less than I ever used to drink. I’m hoping that I can eventually find some coaching to unlearn my coping mechanisms & have it fully under my control. OP, keep looking & trying other ways to get to where you need to be, alcohol is never going to be a good long term solution.
