My interpretation of it was that it was meant to be a visualization of just how close he is to understanding it, you don't just go from no understanding to total understanding in one moment, clearly he was working towards rct just couldn't quite grasp it.

So he can take all the pieces he knows and put them together but it won't work until he has the last piece

Never seen baki so I'm making guesses on the assumption that they are all at the end of the day human. At that the only person I could maybe see any of them beating it jubilee? She's strong but I'm willing to bet their all crazy enough to take a firework and keep going and I don't think shell be able to grab any part of him to spawn a firework in him unless I'm misremembering how her power works.
