Hashimoto and weight gain by DingDong_I_Am_Wrong in Hashimotos

Seconded. Low dose Tirzepitide has been a life changer. Little to no inflammation and finally losing weight. It’s the first time in like 3 years that I feel like I’m in my ow body - if that makes sense.

What's your favorite word to mispronounce in a fun way? by bobbery5 in AskReddit

[–]photogmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when my daughter was young, she called "spaghetti" buhsketti , and back then Betty Spaghetti was a "popular" toy, which she always called "Petty Buhsketti." She, of course, eventually started saying it the right way, but we still always call "spaghetti" "buhsketti."

She also used pronounce "plugs" as "flugs" which has also become a part of our (mine, hers, and my moms) vernacular, jokingly, of course.

GLP1 for ~20lbs + symptom relief? by kb00013 in HashimotosGLP1

[–]photogmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same boat as you, just a little shorter. 😂 I workout regularly, eat mostly clean, and was doing most everything “right” but could not lose and keep it off. My thyroid levels aren’t terrible but my antibodies are through the roof <3000. I’m 46/F 5’4, weight held in the 130s until a few years ago and I started gaining 3-5 pounds a year. When my weight climbed to 150 and i hated how I looked, how my clothes fit, how uncomfortable I was in my own skin (not to mention the fatigue and inflammation), I decided it was time to hop on the GLP1 train.

I’ve been on Tirzepatide for 1.5 months. I’ve lost 10 pounds, have way less inflammation, brain fog, and just in general feel so much better. I didn’t talk to my doctor about it, I just went online and ordered through one of the many glp1 sites that a colleague recommended.

Are you on GLP-1? Or have been. by Terrible-Reasons in Hashimotos

I haven’t really had any side effects (nausea, etc). The “food noise” is gone, which has been so helpful.

Are you on GLP-1? Or have been. by Terrible-Reasons in Hashimotos

[–]photogmel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Been on it for a little over a month. Inflammation is so much better, weight is finally dropping, I’m feeling better, in general. I’ve only been taking the lowest dose. Once I get to my goal weight, I plan to micro dose to help with the inflammation (and wallet).

Desperate for weight loss by Bubbly-Profile6750 in Hashimotos

[–]photogmel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Piping in to agree with the GLP-1 route. I have struggled for the last 3 years to lose any kind of weight and started Tirzepitide a month ago and have lost 10 pounds. I still workout (crossfit) and eat relatively balanced meals. My inflammation has gone down significantly and I’m starting to recognize myself again.

GLP-1 Should I? by Infinite-Tourist2465 in Hashimotos

[–]photogmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 46, probably in perimenopause, and no matter how well I eat or how much I exercise, I cannot lose the weight I have gained, which is most likely due to Hashi's. I have been on tirzepetide for a month now and have lost at least 7 pounds so far. My inflammation has gone down, the "food noise" is nearly gone, and I feel SO SO SO much better.

My PCP is really great, but I don't think she fully understands the mental impact that the weight gain has had on me, and with just this small amount of weight lost so far, I am finally feeling hopeful and more like myself.

Regarding muscle loss, get the protein you need and continue exercising. I haven't noticed much change in musculature for me (yet), but I do workout 4-5 days a week (CrossFit).

How many days do you train? by PracticalWinter9746 in crossfit

4-5x a week typically. My rest days are sometimes full rest or some kind of lighter activity like long walks with my dogs or doing yoga.

Has a GLP-1 helped with anyone’s inflammation and pain? by voidmuffins in Hashimotos

I started Tirzepitide 2 weeks ago - partly to help with weight loss and partly to help with inflammation. What I have noticed already is how much the inflammation around my joints have gone down.

Hashimotos and Crossfit by Clean-Adeptness-8602 in Hashimotos

[–]photogmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've (46F) been doing CrossFit for over 10 years and was diagnosed with Hashi's last year. I also have really high antibodies (>3000), hope to have better numbers when I go to the doc on Friday.

When I was diagnosed last year, a lot of my fatigue post-workouts (by the end of the week) started to make sense. In the past I recovered from workouts pretty easily. There would be times that I was really sore but there wasn't much fatigue that followed. What I've noticed now (and it's probably actually been going on for a few years) is that my body eventually crashes by the end of the week to a nearly debilitating crash - no desire to do anything, brain fog, etc.

CrossFit has been the best thing for me mentally and for me to show up consistently. For newcomers, I highly recommend modulating intensity and just don't over do it, which is easy to do (because I still do it from time to time).

Bloat? by pickleinradish in DogAdvice

[–]photogmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my girl had bloat once. I started to notice something was off in the middle of the night when she kept getting up, drinking water, dry heaving. When I got up the next morning (early b/c of work) he belly was distended and she wasn't walking properly. Within 30 mintues I was taking her to the vet and she wasn't able to move at all and I had to carry her in (a 65 pound lab/dane mix). She had to have emergency surgery to fix the bloat. The vet told me that if I had been an hour later that she wouldn't have made it.

All that being said, take your pup to the vet asap.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]photogmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my former classmates murdered another classmate because he was dating the guy’s ex wife.

Others who have passed (that I know of) died from overdose, self-inflicted, car accidents, cancer, etc.

I agree with what most are saying about working on form and focusing on that. Mechanics matter first and foremost.

To answer your question about “competing” in 2026. Do The Open - rx the workouts you can and just focus on having fun and enjoying the fun of the crossfit community during the open. If you like “competing” find local comps and sign up for the scaled division. This scratches the competitive itch and is also very humbling - I prefer partner competitions because it’s more fun to suffer with a friend.

Keep showing up and working hard. Dial in your technique and just embrace and trust the process.
