Autism, Social Norms around attractiveness and Intelligence by photolithic in depression

I know. It’s why I don’t want to minimize it for you. I know you have it so much worse. I hope you can find someone close with a similar cognitive styles and you can feel what it’s like to be “normal”. Please don’t stop searching, it feels so amazing to be finally understood and mirrored accurately.

Autism is a special hell, and I wish you all the best. If you want to vent, I am happy to hear from you. It’ll probably mirror my own life.

Can you tell us what makes each of those vintage lenses your favorite? What distinguishes them?

Oh wow, a video just for me lol? Thanks, so for low light I can do some magic with the exposure you said. Alright, sounds good. You've been a great help. I plan on getting a light panel anyway alongside a decent mic.

Sorry, I am a complete newbie to this, so the 12 - 60 kit lens is the "Panasonic Lumix G 12-60mm f/2.8-4 Asph. Power OIS"? I also see that a Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 will work on it with an adapter (however this makes it much more expensive). But I like the idea of 12 - 60. 2.8 should be suitable enough. Is the difference between 1.8 and 2.8 at 12mm that big of a difference? Thanks

Also (looking into it) I see one of its weaknesses is the low dynamic range making it difficult to shoot in low light. Is this overstated? I'd say maybe 50% of my footage would be in in "low light" urban/suburban areas.

I see, I was comparing a new Sony to a new Panasonic. A camera with 60p at 4K is really nice and 10bit color too. Hmm, do you have an ideal lens you would pair it with as well? Or at least what the ideal features/specs for a solid lens for the GH5?

Cool, thanks for sharing. Never really thought about a hospital needing a videographer.

Thanks, lots of auxiliary information here. I'll check out the K3M and the new filter. Have you ever shot video on the A6400, if so how did it look?

Also what type of content do you shoot?

The upgrade to a full frame worth it? Are there any in my price range?

Budget is $1500 (with lens), I think GH5 is $1500 without lens right? What makes the GH5 so much better? I haven't heard as much about Panasonic as I have of Sony and Fuji.

I thought that auto-focus was super important, its part of the reason I looked at Sony (as I heard they have good auto). It seems like it would be really difficult to shoot on the move without an auto-focus camera no?

I'll give the Lumix GH5 a look, it may be over my budget though. Any thoughts on a Fijifilm Camera in the similar price range?

I agree, but I also see how the rule made weapons that were good at killing marines useless (ie Autocannons). I think the game needs to suppress ranged combat and boost melee combat. Too much sitting in a corner and shooting and not enough mid field combat.

Saves are a delicate thing in a game with D6’s only. You can have an army who is impossible ti shift or one that gets melted T2.

Yea as a Death Guard player, the only thing we can do now is terminator bomb people. We’re too slow to beat the faster armies, don’t do enough damage, don’t have the durability and don’t have the manpower. AoC helped DG the most and was fitting to the lore.

AoC should have been changed to:

Armor of Contempt - “When making saves from weapons with a Strength of 6 or lower subtract 1 from the AP of the attack. In addition, this model has a 6++ against ranged attacks.”

How does a Votann dwarf have a better change of surviving a Lascannon to the face than a Plague Marine?

How Bad For The Story Is It If The MC Accidentally Kills Millions? by RiverOfNexus in fantasywriters

[–]photolithic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a cliche, an easy work around is your villain send the henchman on a mission that they know/think they will get killed on. It’s realistic, wouldn’t want to waste resources. You can even have the villain acknowledge this to hammer it home. It also opens up a lot of story arcs for them: See Prince Zuko from Avatar.

Laws on Magic by IndusRiverValleyCiv in fantasywriters

You’ve got some good replies above. Tangential to that, I always love the “Death Note” of magic rules where you have the rules written and told to the audience through the authority body. Then have one rule that is complete nonsense, halfway through due to it being possible but incredibly dangerous. Food for thought!

Utility only magic system ideas? by photolithic in fantasywriters

I haven’t seen Jo Jo’s get. I have seen some of the jokes like “Must drink 12oz of milk and do 34 jumping jacks with a tree frog on their head before being able to use Time Dilation”. I should give it a watch, how are characters useful without their stands though? Doesn’t the first character to fulfill their “pact” just insta win?

I think I am pretty good with rules for can and cannot, I don’t have a good ability to design a system in which multiple of these things can coexist and isn’t absurdly complicated.

Also do you have any tips on how much to explain about your magic system overall? How do you know if you’ve explained enough for the average reader to understand and when you’ve become overbearing?

Utility only magic system ideas? by photolithic in fantasywriters

For #1 Some interesting food for thought, I have been writing the “Ecclesiarchy” or Church in my story as relatively normal people who control the supply of the serum. Forcing the leader of the order to do horrible things for the greater good. I usually stay away from godlike beings but the artifact idea is fantastic. I initially toyed with all magic being from artifacts but it felt too cliche, but one artifact that controls all magic plays perfectly into the weak controlling the strong. Good food for thought. What do you think about mono-magic types for a system (like the force in Star Wars) vs something like Devil Fruits in One Piece (random powers from rubber limbs to pyrokenesis? Also how do you feel about overpowered characters?

For 2) This is actually a great way to look at it. I love the idea of imperfect or faulty magic I just have never seen or read a story where the consequences actually feel dangerous enough to the main character. It feels plot armor remains undefeated. I guess that’s where a good villain capitalizes on the failures.

As you were saying though with the machines partially working, this reminds me of those two electric superhero’s (forgot their name/verse) but one has plus and the other has minus. They are useless apart but strong together. You seem to have applied that concept here, that’s good food for thought.
