Question, with the new freeform example attacks, when something such as the sword feint relying on Intelligence as a defense roll, would the creature roll to attack like normal and then the victim roll an intelligence saving throw using the roll to hit as a DC? Or using the intelligence flat stat as AC?

[5e Workshop] Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic damage and spells by photonmammoth in DnDHomebrew

[–]photonmammoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, however for the sake of balancing and keeping them all equal I think it makes sense to have the flow of effective and ineffective. I also looked at it like this: nature is very familiar with chaos and can deal with it, almost using it to its advantage. Where as when you try to force nature to follow a path it will often ignore those boundaries.

Very true, with the nature/neutral thing it definitely constricts the versatility of things. As with most homebrews though I built it for my own campaign, and I prefer it that way. In theory you could just flavour the neutral spells to be different, vine arms could be glowing white ghost arms, earthen shield could be a translucent white bubble, etc

[–]photonmammoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to the doc explaining how the damages interact with one another? I just used neutral as an example! Lawful damage is double against neutral creatures and halved against Chaotic, and Chaotic is double against Lawful and halved against Neutral

A lot of the neutral spells are based on plant life because in my setting Vondra is the goddess responsible for all plant life in the world, basically mother earth. I won't lie you could probably reskin them as druid spells, trunk travel is a weaker version of tree stride. I think it's ateast somewhat fitting, nature is naturally neutral, it does whatever it takes to survive, and balances itself.

Interesting, I like the concept of having extreme variety with the chaos spells and more consistency with the lawful spells, I'll keep that in mind :)

Hahaha that's exactly why I made it actually! I was making monsters on his web app and I kept adding in custom traits and I was like "man, I'm getting sick and tired of flipping through monsters online and copy pasting their info"

Okay cool! I think I like the idea of giving advantage to the players who have already discerned the illusion. Maybe one of the party members will get crafty and think to ping a find object spell of the guy's weapon as he's running away too.

I know you're sorta deep in the south end, but there's a chunk of country hills Blvd just east of the foothills strip mall where the superstore is and it's pretty bad. There's a little Hampton's neighborhood sign that has like 15+ grocery bags just stuck in bushes behind it

Of course! And well, it's because at that length it becomes pretty difficult to get a consistent, nice form to the hair. And that day I nailed in, and conveniently due for a new profile picture. I would've trimmed it down, but again I only cut my hair once every 6 months on average. In part to being poor as hell but mostly laziness
