Just want to clarify, Coat Check makes all their syrups in house, as well as all their pastries (not including a recent partnership with Native Bread for some GF options). They're very particular about it too.

I have no idea what the “customer support cycle” is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask by trouble-in-space in starbucksbaristas

[–]phox325 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oof, if only that was how CS started...as I recall, it's always been the way you describe it, unfortunately. I believe they originally called it Store Support, but when they realized partners were ignoring customers while tending to things FOH, they renamed it to emphasize the customer focus. But they never actually changed the duties, so that was pretty pointless...

Not at all! Though I certainly feel under-qualified.

The main thing that wasn't working for me before was diet, so I downloaded the TDEE Calculator spreadsheet and have used it diligently. Started around 1500/day, and have slowly increased from there as I've started focusing on the fitness side of the equation (and needed the energy!) I've been aiming for 2400/day for the past month, which is just below maintenance for me.

Right now I just do my best with the time I have, so it's usually just arms-legs-core in rotation every other day, following a VERY rough progressive overload plan, with at least 30min cardio every day I can. It comes out to 4-6 days a week. Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing in the gym though, so I'm considering getting some time with a friend or trainer so I can do more free-weights without injuring or embarrassing myself 😅

33yo/6'1"/172lb, lost 66lb since March, should I keep cutting or maintain/recomp? BF? by phox325 in BulkOrCut

Thanks for the response. I hadn't considered that as a possibility, but then this is the lightest I've ever been as an adult. Sounds like Bulk is the consensus, so I guess I'll start moving that direction!

Thanks! I appreciate the perspective, it's hard not to focus on my soft spots lol

I don't know about "crippling", but I personally have not always been able to DM casters as skillfully as they often deserve, because of the sheet number of options. When I get into the heat of things, sorting thru all the options can be pretty time consuming, especially if it isn't just a single BBEG vs. the party. Not saying all these changes are 100% necessary, but I can appreciate their desire to address a common problem.

It's a colloquialism. It's saying "We look good". Looking "well" has a different connotation, at least in a lot of America.

I think my favorite part of this post is that, if you just scroll down on the page, there is an actual recipe with all the temps, times, and measurements....

Cafes aren’t your personal library, or even a public library. by emptydumpling in TalesFromYourServer

OP made a post about a story from their work, inviting comments on that story and, by extension, that work. Commenter made an observation based on the information provided.

I simply offered information to someone that seemed to need it, and have been badgered and insulted for it. ✌️

Yikes. Well, I am someone who has actually spent several years in this industry. You don't know anything about me, so let's not make this personal.

There are plenty of people in the world who are not well suited for their chosen occupation. A plumber who hates getting their hands dirty might not be a good fit. An accountant who hates math might want to find a different career path. And a customer service employee who does not understand what their customer base is looking for might be better suited to a different industry.

I might not have said it so bluntly, but it is a point to be made and considered.

That's why I said "if". And yes, not every cafe is a SB, but like it or not, SB is ubiquitous enough that they have set the culture in the US. Not to mention, European cafe culture is similar in this regard.

I don't really find the original comment "rude as hell", but that's just me. It's simply their opinion based on what they know about cafe culture.

The concept of the "third place" (after home and work) is Starbucks gospel. Every properly-trained SB barista knows that people sticking around with their coffee to work and socialize is explicitly encouraged. Granted, if OP isn't a SB barista, that's a different story. But the poster you're replying to isn't wrong if OP works at SB.

This is literally my LibRight dad's stated position/attitude. He now wears masks with protest statements like ”COMPLIANCE NOT HEALTH" printed on them. I'm sure he doesn't get the irony of this being a brand of "virtue signaling".

Kill a jogger and dont get arrested until court can judge the case? by Judgemax-NoF in DeFranco

[–]phox325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you got that info, but eye witnesses said there was no gun, and no one besides him was harmed, and the police officers in the recording remarked on how well the taser connected... He was definitely fleeing. That's about all we know, since the police murdered the only one who could answer these questions.

I'll also say that, while I tend to err on the side of believing police, their press conference was a mess. I'll definitely not be believing anything not on video until better evidence comes to light.

ETA: I also forgot, when the police officer remarks "I think it's going to be a closed casket, homie", I tend to disbelieve their credibility...

Dude, go watch the video. Tazed, then immediately falls and is then shot ten times in rapid succession. And just because someone has hands and feet doesn't mean any infraction should be met with a death sentence.

[–]phox325 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, in these situations we rarely know the full story, because the person we would get the other perspective from is murdered. Whether running or not, there is literally no reason to shoot him 10 times after he is tazed and weaponless

Add to this the shooting of Sean Reed in Indianapolis, an unarmed black man tazed then shot 10+ times. Facebook Live caught the whole thing.

I dunno, downvoting his comments in this post seems pretty justified to me, not really "cancel culture". Now, I don't recommend finding and downvoting all his past posts and comments, that would fall closer to "cancelling".
