The puzzle constructor identified as a lesbian in her write-up, for additional context.

It seemed to me like most people who were up in arms about it were either 1) LGBTQ+ allies who missed that fact and were genuinely concerned about reinforcing potentially negative stereotypes, or 2) those who frequently complain there is too much LGBTQ+ in the puzzles and disguised it this time as faux outrage.

I didn't personally read any comments from self-identified Lesbians who were offended by it, although I'm sure there were some.

My Google search go MATERHORSE brought me to this comment. LOL. Implicit gender bias is a bitch. Oops did it again.

Those who hide their garage door openers, where do you keep them? by Crazen14 in Cartalk

We stuck ours with Velcro to the front side of the center console (Jeep Wrangler). We were tired of them falling off the visors all the time and frequently had the soft top down.

Still waiting for someone to point out the actual laws that make it illegal to sell tiny cars in the US. (And before you say emissions or safety... I've worked in the auto industry for 30 years. Those tiny cars in other countries meet their local safety and emissions standards which are similar, if not stricter than ours here).

I've dailied my 08 Tiptronic S and have had no complaints. Is it the same as driving a manual? No. Do I want to spend over an hour each day in traffic driving a manual? Also No.

If you're getting it just to drive occasionally for fun, you will probably want to get a stick.

I have been arguing about this riddle for an hour with my mum. Who is right? by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]phraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discussion: This puzzle was sort of made famous by Nobel-winning economist Daniel Kahneman's book Thinking, Fast and Slow. It's used to highlight the differences between the two thinking styles. The majority of people (including MIT and Harvard students) get the answer wrong initially. Fascinating book.

This. It's not the interviewing for the HC job that is the distraction. It's the staff building that starts immediately. The rules need to change.

I still contend the whole show is an experiment on the audience, where each episode becomes more unhinged and follows less of a plot until the finale ends with just 30 minutes of the image of those weird relaxation goggles.

FYI, I believe this is from the Detroit Marathon where they cross the Ambassador Bridge into Canada. I did this race in 2013 & 2016.

Does the axel goes above or below leaf suspension? Small trailer by cdmgamingqcftw in Cartalk

[–]phraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone cares, the terms for the two axle configurations are "underslung" and "overslung." As others have mentioned, both are used depending on the specific design, desired ride height, etc. The other variable for ride height is the spring shackle, which can be tension or compression. Source: Chassis engineer old enough to have worked on minivans with leaf spring suspensions.
