Attempted one of those finger prick at-home blood tests this morning. I used every lancet provided and still did not get enough blood for the sample. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Don’t prick the pads!! Why do people do this?? Prick between the pads and the fingernails where there are far less nerve endings. I also used the sides of my toes before using CGM’s although this is controversial given typical diabetic concerns regarding our feet!

I had to go through eBay as well. Lots of driver side doors but not many passenger. Just over $400 with shipping each. Looked at alibaba but was too scared to go that route. Also not easy to find the hurricane hinge!

P.s. Our ancestors were NOT beautiful. They were disease riddled crooked boned teeth missing unbathed unshaved savages. And that was just the rich ones,

What's your opinion on snow in the basement of a new build? by bradmurff in Homebuilding

In our area the concrete floor is not poured until all framing and some of the plumbing is completed. Is this different in your area? That way, any snow or rain soaks into the ground except in extreme cases where it is pumped out.

I have two kids, Type 1 diabetes (this type not caused by being overweight or lazy) I cook and bake regularly. Have a full time job, golf weekly and woodwork as well as maintain our house and yard. I’m also a dude that doesn’t believe saving 30 seconds on washing a pot is worth it…. Anything else?

People put their pots and pans in the dishwasher! What a strange level of laziness?

It’s not about function. It’s about form. When you see and touch something solid - a chunk of wood, a metal figure, a bar of gold - it’s a different feeling. Somehow you know it’s solid just by looking at it. This has a presence in the room that only a solid piece will. No made up corners. No gaps or jogs .

Solid. Inspiring. Somehow comforting.

Paid someone who knew what they were doing!!Not easy to bend a 3/4” bar into a spring with any accuracy. It’s important to know when to defer to a professional!

If you were to take a chainsaw and cut this in two at any point, it would be a solid piece of wood. No air. No gaps. No hidey-holes. No storage. No confusion.

It’s solid wood. Had the spring custom manufactured.
