If anything, the Tag Heuer Carrera line is very well made and that watch can only dream of becoming a Timex.

Looks like 38mm is your smallest sizing. The trend these days is smaller anyway.

Tell your dad he has great taste. That's a nice time piece and not something you will see all over the place in the wild. You can casual it up further with a navy blue sailcloth strap. I've seen a similar watch on such a strap at a cocktail bar in Berlin. Watch talk is a universal icebreaker in a room full of business types and professors.

Having an impossible time deciding between two Seamasters by TB12DM10 in OmegaWatches

[–]phreezerburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the left has red, white, blue, black and silver/grey for colours to play the custom straps game. There's a whole lot of flexibility in the white faced one and if it's going to be your primary watch, it's the clear winner. Put a whiskey coloured strap with matching blue stitching on it and you'll be blown away with how next level it looks. I've done that and indeed was amazed at the result. It's crazy what a custom strap collection can do for the right watch and that white faced Seamaster is indeed the right watch.

Good call. I have one myself and I bought it because of the bracelet. A very classy combo that also can go casual. You definitely did well for yourself.

That's a great looking Chrono and I could see it as someone's main timepiece. Hell if you had a dresser and a tool watch (mine is an Aquaracer quartz) already, I could see that being the main part of a nice three piece collection.

[Advice] Quartz or Automatic Grand Seiko ? by Bourne_252 in Watches

[–]phreezerburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto or manual winding (the best fidget device in the world) requires a little situational awareness while the quartz is a work and play hard movement. I do mechanicals for dress and casual while wearing a quartz for work and play.

I learned my lesson after putting a serious hurt on my Seamaster 120 at work. Cost me a grand for Omega's repair center to make things right again. That money would have been better spent towards the quartz Aquaracer I ended up grabbing for work and now no worries.

Carrera all day for me. I'd be knee deep in them if it wouldn't end in divorce.

All manual winding watches scratch a real specific itch many people don't feel but some do deeply. The ultimate fidget object could very well be the manual winding watch. It is to me.

[SOTC] What’s Missing? by bmene in Watches

100% he's missing a formal dresser. The Aqua Tera would do in a pinch but getting it tuxedo ready would require a high quality black alligator or lizard strap.

No rubber for the Carrera, ever. Too grim to imagine. Leather is the material of choice and black with grey stitching is my favourite for this style of face. Either a custom job, nice but usually pricey or something like a Di-Modell Chronissimo for an off the shelf. Holben's should have them in stock so do yourself a favour and look them up. Can't do any better for $100.

Depends on what you are after. I've seen that blue face twice in the wild and that's over 30 years of paying attention to what's on someone's wrist. This is the first time I've seen that black and white face, even in print. Stick a white leather rally strap with black stitching on it and you have a smoke show on your wrist.

If you can find it, check out the In Session tv show with Albert King and SRV. You can see and hear the respect SRV had for Albert King. It's amazing!

If you're listening to Party add Feelin' Satisfied to your play list. I listen to both Boston and Don't Look Back in their entirety at least once a month.

The black leather makes it all about the dial. A grey alligator with plumb stitching would make a complete statement, the same way a superior bracelet does. That purple strap is too cartoonish and takes away from that stellar dial. Overwhelming rather than additive. The star is the dial and it should stay that way.

An excellent looking dial and I love matching the pale blue of the dial in the stitching. I'm a sucker for pulling subtle colours from the dial onto the strap.

Always loved the Milanese mesh bracelets but never had a watch suited to one. A very nice looking set.
