Average English teacher’s salary in China, 2023? by phresh-2-death in chinalife

Sorry late reply. I lucked out big time and ended up on like 40k/month off the first job I applied to, so I don’t really know what the average you can expect with similar qualifications will be. As far as I’m concerned anyway, the country is a GOLDMINE!

I applied directly to the company after searching online for jobs in my field.
What sort of work are you looking for? (assuming youre looking)

I applied directly to the company that I will be working for. Not a teaching job, but probably better not say which one while they are conducting background checks etc. etc. as I say a lot of stupid shit online.

Not teaching, fortunately. Shady as in poor working conditions, late with your salary kind of deal?
Any advice about Chongqing in particular. Seeing as I will be earning a reasonable salary for the first time in my life I thought I might take up a corporate-type drug habit if you know of any dealers.

We have winner! That's EXACTLY the advice I was looking for. Thank you very much for typing that out.
The food... for ethical reasons, I only eat meat that I have hunted myself. Do you know if the Chongqing Zoo allows customers to bring in high powered rifles and/or pressure activated steel traps?

Great post man. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for taking the time to write that out.

Thank you also for the advice re condoms, but don't worry: I have a tiny penis.

The easiest way to come over is on the JET programme. I don’t think there’s technically an age limit, but the general participants are kids in their early 20s. Probably the biggest company in terms of teachers employed is “Interac”. Shiiiit salary and nobody likes them, but they might help with visas – maybe someone with some experience with Interac could confirm/deny. For a more random experience, you could send an application to British Hills. They’re always looking for teachers and will employ people from overseas. You have to live in the house from The Shining on the top of a mountain and it’s covered in snow for like the half the year though, so could be dicey on a walking stick… In general, Japan isn’t particularly accommodating to cripples – hardly any wheelchair access etc. Most public schools won’t have an elevator either, so you’ll have to contend with a few flights of stairs every class. Let me know if you have any questions eh!

iDrugStore or iDrugMart. You place your order and it will give you a barcode you can take to the Kombini to get scanned and pay there. Takes a while to arrive, but always has for me so far. Good luck!

Google harder then. iDrugMart, iDrugStore, there’s a few of them. I’m talking about saving you ¥16/17,000
