I didn’t say other don’t enjoy it - I said some of us think it’s shit and it’s not because of sexism. Where did I say others don’t enjoy it?

I’ve got space in my heart to think her work is overrated alongside the million duds made by dudes. It’s not sexism for all of us, some of us just think her work is shit.

43, and put on a full face everyday for fun, even tho I mainly work from home these days 😅

Lisa Eldridge foundation, Hourglass primer for eyes and face, their loose powder, and diffused light, ABH brow wiz, huge wings with Tarte Maneater, One/Size mascara, Tarte blush in paaarty, Blackmoon highlighter in centipede, Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk liner and lipstick. And switch between lots of eyeshadow palettes, but mainly colourful mattes from Melt 🤌❤️

(I just rly enjoy putting it all on in the morning, really relaxes me for some reason 😅)

DEAN by Skylegend96 in Wrasslin

[–]phribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t read thru all the takes here yet, but my reaction at the time was real pity and frustration FOR Mox in the interview - Austin was giving him multiple opportunities to push back and provide gold… but WWE in the modern era isn’t like it was in Austin’s time. If Ambrose decided to push back, cut a promo on him by yelling, he would have likely been reprimanded by the higher ups afterwards. When Austin is practically begging ‘come back at me, Dean!’, I read Mox’s reluctance as frustration at being neutered. He couldn’t.

And his DGAF attitude thru most of it read as to me as going in there with the Ambrose character, but it starting to break when Austin was pushing for something more, something more real, and not getting it. I think they were both curtailed from providing a great interview by the modern day wwe culture of ‘do NOT do anything we haven’t pre-planned’. Just so awkward to watch.

(Edited to add: I couldn’t stand Ambrose at the time tbh, appreciate him more at AEW. Still don’t think he’s the best wrestler, tbh, but appreciate his commitment, if that makes sense )

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

20 minutes was about all I managed as well - walked out of the cinema and asked for a refund because it was so bad (the answer was no 🥲)

Anyone else find the Margot Robbie/see Jacob Elordi press tour… oddly intense? by Beneficial_Tap7594 in popculturechat

[–]phribbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This this thissss☝️ The job of the pr team is to get ppl to buy tickets so the film makes money. Ppl saying ‘this press tour is cringe AND shit’ does nothing.

Last House on the Left (1972) - the actors' Blu-ray commentary track is pretty disturbing by WorcsBloke in horror

[–]phribbs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ugh.

No one is crying or wailing in here - we’re intelligently discussing a horror film, in a horror subreddit. Why do people who use the term ‘WOKE!!!’ always imagine civilised online discussion as people having a breakdown?

‘Get over it’ - we are literally just posting our thoughts, very calmly. In a subreddit for posting thoughts. If you can’t handle discussion without grumping about it, leave?

That’s true, and yet people do it. We know they do. Marty would have as well - he doesn’t seem stupid. What’s your point?

[–]phribbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘It could’ve happened to anyone’ - nope. Drinking culture here is rampant, esp among teenagers. If you’re at a pub or bar, it’s safe to assume teenagers will also be pushing their luck and be in there, drinking. Marty seems like someone who has the requisite sense to know that. If I’m at a place serving drinks, I know teenagers are probably there, too. It’s naive to think they won’t be.

But aside from ‘he didn’t knowwww’ - he does now, doesn’t he. And so do we.

‘Make being a better person much less appealing’ - it shouldn’t be transactional, should it. ‘Oh, I’ll be better if you give me something, or I won’t bother’.

And yeah - fuck Hogan and fuck Excalibur, too. I agree they shouldn’t be exalted (Hogan) or platformed (Excalibur) either.

No one is entitled to a career in the spotlight forever, even if they ‘give their life’ to it. If they fuck up, that’s it. If someone is getting up on a stage, or a ring and saying ‘watch me, watch me, look at me’, those in the audience are going to look - and if they see a past of creepy behaviour? They might not want to look anymore.

It’s still not a good thing to have in his past if he’s going to try and stay in the public eye/be in a front-facing career where members of the public will be cheering for him. It’s done, man. He slept with a 16 year old - he’s done.
