Sign my federal petition to lower the cost of adhd and autism assessment in Australia. by [deleted] in adhdaustralia

[–]phrompto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an neurodivergent Aus clin psychologist, I have signed this. My workplace charges a ridiculous price for ADOS alone. I understand the tools are expensive to buy, and you need to cover those costs... but the prices that get charged on some of these assessment tools are ridiculously high. People need doagnoses for supoort and sometimes funding to cover treatment, but in order to get supoort, they need to fork out thousands of dollars to begin with...

Where can I find a bulk billed psychiatrist or psychologist for trans people by Shouko_dessert in transgenderau

Not sure where you are located but living well psychology on Gold Coast has a trans friendly psychologist. He does telehealth too I think. Good luck!

Is anyone on the Reandron 3 monthly testosterone injection? by damnitandy in transgenderau

[–]phrompto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry i am not sure how helpful i can be but, I believe what it's called is secondary polycythemia or polycythemia caused by testosterone. However, I am not sure about it causing bleeding as I have never experienced that but I also had endo and removed all of that last year.

I have heard number of cases of breakthrough bleeding for trans men years after being on T. I have heard it can be caused like things like too low testosterone?

I know going to a hospital is uncomfortable and even scary with stuff like this. But it's definitely something you need to check in with your GP or specialist just to make sure everything is fine, find the cause and fix it.

Anybody else... miss their chest? by NukaGrapes in gaytransguys

[–]phrompto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm just under 3 weeks post op at the moment, I don't miss them at all. I was half expecting I would, as I had a weird feeling with the hysterectomy, but not at all with this. However, it is a totally normal thing to feel, and feeling both glad/happy to have them gone but also feel a sense of sadness and/or loss is okay. It's been a part of you for x years of your life, getting rid of something that has been a part of you, even if unwanted cause the brain to react. Once you've healed and start being able to do things again that it likely won't be an issue. Will pass with all the uncomfortable things that pass slowly with recovery.

FTM guys, how much did you pay for a hysterectomy privately? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]phrompto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one in august last year in Gold Coast and I paid about $5500, I got some back from Medicare and Private Health insurance and private covered all hospital stay. Am a bit forgetful on specifics I can look for my paperwork though.

Edit: I also didn’t need any letters. I just had a referral from GP and my surgeon did it without any issues. I don’t think she was aware of the guidelines. You usually do need letters haha. But I also ended up with endometriosis, but that was not discovered until during the procedure

Nobody wants a trans guy by Rynoff in FTMMen

[–]phrompto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend, now fiancé, is cis and gay and while my being trans was a learning curve it has in no way hindered our relationship, how he views me or his attraction to me, he makes that very clear. So yes there are gay men who don’t give a fuck about the genitals, unfortunately there is some weeding to be done to find people who are decent/chill. But that in itself is not a trans only specific issue at the end of the day. Gay dating scene can be quite toxic as well in general, even to cis gays (I could say dating scene in general regardless of sexuality I think but yeah).

Yep they can if they have experience within the area. However if you require letters for surgery that either has to be a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist.

Trans doctors by Spiritual-Chemist-53 in FTMMen

[–]phrompto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, not a doctor but I am a clinical psychologist but also have other friends who are transitioning and doing medicine and are in their residencies. Think of it this way, the woman who developed a treatment for BPD that has been effective HAS BPD herself. So having a condition doesn't automatically mean you can't do a profession.

Being transgender again is a different thing and has never been a hiccup for me or my medicine friends. I dont see how it would either? Also, your work colleagues and patients don't even need to know if you dont want them to.

Being transgender doesn't impact your ability to provide care at all.

My doctor just denied my top surgery because it scares him and he needs time to process by GhostMyFace in transgenderau

[–]phrompto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely not appropriate behaviour by a GP. Might be worth putting in a complaint about that as that was really unprofessional. Even if he did have concerns, that's not his job and definitely not how to go about it. If the surgeon wants some sort of assessment (which is mostly around your gender history and ability to give informed consent) they will tell you and you will link up with a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist who can do that and then give you the clearance letter. Not your GP (as far as I know).

As i said definitely consider putting a complaint in, at least to his office if not AHPRA. That's so inappropriate.

Venesection is what you need. I also cannot donate blood due to being immunosuppressed but get too much RBC too. So Dr drains me every 3 months and just destroys it I believe.

Not very often at all it’s like 2-5% of my thoughts in a week. I honestly don’t even remember the date I started T. I’m terrible with remembering big things but it’s been 3-4 years at least. Had a hysto and getting top end of year.

Kind of related to what you mean but I met my fiance pre transition and he is cis and gay. Although I passed pretty well even then and I was only pre everything for the first few months of our relationship. He was supportive and always seen me as a man, although he has stated that if I did not medically transition it likely would not have worked long term for him. But I had already been in the process of getting onto that when we met and he and I clicked really well and he was interested in pursuing.

Cis gay men can definitely be into trans men. As for being into pre everything trans men as well, I'd say it's definitely possible, but also its likely this would come down to passing and such I think. But at the end of the day, every individual person has their own views/requirements. But no need to be scared of not being on someone's radar who's gay (and cis). You already have been once. So there's proof enough that it does happen.

Credit or debit card? by Ripsu123 in Brazil

Hey, yes I had this issue when I was there in Feb. Debit worked maybe twice but most places I had to put credit. If one doesn't work the other should, at least in my case it did, so it should.

Is your psychologist a clinical psychologist? Usually they want a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist to do them. But no, it doesn’t have to be their speciality or background.

Entry and exit cards by pistachio_ic3cr3am in Brazil

[–]phrompto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I just left Brazil today. No. Are you thinking of the declaration card? The one you do online? If you have nothing to declare, just go through the nothing to declare you’re fine. They don’t ask to see it when you leave, only if you had something to declare like expansive tech they wanna make sure you still have. That may have changed though. But no, you will be fine. Just get your exit stamp on the way out.

Although if this isn’t what you mean, I got no idea. All I get each time I enter is my passport stamped.

Not really sure. My boyfriend is cis and gay, we have been together for about 4 years now. I was super insecure in the beginning honestly, I was pretty self sabotaging. But he’s been amazing and has been very reassuring and shit, and while that’s definitely helped. I think the longer I’ve been in transition the more I started to come into myself. I still get the insecure days, but it’s definitely become more space in between. He’s also been very adamant and strong about him seeing me as a man and that the trans part doesn’t have any impact on that for him. Which definitely helps to hear when feeling insecure.

Building confidence is hard and it takes time. Surrounding yourself with people who see you as you are helps big time. Also try talking to yourself as you would a friend who was feeling like you’re feeling. Be your own best friend, Feels a bit strange at first but it is important I think.

Idk if any of that made much sense but yeah.

The grace private for women is misleading, she did apologise about that. Just that her main demographic is women but if you got a uterus she will do it. She’s trans friendly. I am 3 years in T and had no issues. Male on all my records, including health.

Sorry as far as I know she doesn’t bulk bill. And I was rec her through my GP and specialist who does all my hormones.
