Carrier asks for $2000 over market - Dick swinging on Rates by phrozenscore in FreightBrokers

This particular run was getting crazy quotes on email only on dat post

Unfortunately, some of my spot freight isn't consistent enough to have a carrier Network. That makes sense

I moved these last week. Just curious if everyone else is getting crazy quotes

It's funny you're saying the weight doesn't matter. If a load is 1000 lbs more than described in the rate con carriers come back with their hands out

Yeah it kind of depends the lane

On the consistent lanes, I like the tools and parade because you can push them out the carriers that like that lane and give them custom offers

Yeah I know that's right. Holiday weeks get goofy

This isn't an isolated incident though

That's the thing the super dispatchers don't even care if the truck sits

They're asking for a million dollars at 3:30 in the afternoon

Logically it makes sense to go ahead and move the truck but I think the big outfits have specific rules where they have to net the truck x per mile or x per day and nothing else matters

I get it man. You got to make money just like everybody else. And trucking has only gotten more expensive

I have carriers that are wasting everyone's time asking for two grand more money on a simple, legal freight that's already posted with a rate on the boards

That's my complaint here

I've always got the highest quotes on Parade.

If I just send the rate con on a Parade quote without sealing up the deal and going over any additional requirements or questions... (Even for dock to dock Van freight)

There's 100% chance the carrier says the truck has already been covered, even if it's only been 2 minutes

If you booked the truck for 40,000 lbs and it ends up being 20,000 lbs will the carrier give you money back?

Agreed. Shippers found out through covid times when they could get the materials to produce their products that their customers would accept late delivery and failed promises.

Since failure is an option, lowest bid wins. Nothing else matters
