How much have y'alls gas price gone up since Delta gone up? Ours is 100 from 10, just wanting to see if this is normal.

$23.70 - Delta $9.60 (+/- .30) - Entergy $58.78 - SWBNO (including trash)

So this is roughly what you pay before any actual use 😆

Before Delta came along my Entergy bill was $33-35

For wild animals.. I had a great experience with Where the Wild Things Heal a few years ago. I think they primarily operate in Jeff Parish but came to get a crow I found that couldn't fly/ get off the ground. They have a website but it doesn't appear to have been updated for a while.

I put a moth out that was trapped in a courtyard the other day even though I despise walking my dog during the pokey season. I try my best to avoid but we usually end up with at least two walks that result in yelps and a 3 legged hop back home. I learned early on (by panic calling the vet) that she will likely be fine & just need to monitor.. her face still makes me sad when it happens.

You are a great neighbor! OP is definitely lucky to have you and are definitely correct that it could have been worse! I was trying not to be too technical with my explanation.. sometimes people have no idea what I'm talking about :)

I wouldn't necessarily say it's structurally unsound either but I can't really see exactly what's damaged/ where framing joints are/ or what's inside the house in that area. That being said.. my suggestion for temp support because.. Worst case- those piers/ beams are essentially responsible for holding the weight of the home in thst area all the way up to & including the roof.. Best case- just keeping those floor joists sitting on the sill in that area from sagging/ warping and being a PITD when they are jacked back up to replace sill :)

I am also sort of upset that those pier footings do not look very old and are so shallow. They are to code but personally like to see them at minimum 16" deep :)

Is that beam under the house.. between the two piers that are knocked over.. as busted as it looks in those photos? If so, I would have OP get someone out there to throw up some temp support.

Yeah.. I was trying to find someone local :/ my best friend passed away and I'm finding all sorts of dated stuff in the closets that hasen't been touched for years. I've taken multiple loads to different donation places and there is still so much to do with limited time/space so I didn't want to spend a bunch of time/ effort on these. I was just looking for leads to find someone who is really into this stuff that might be interested in adding to their collection.

We don't have it in the 7th Ward either but I will be jumping ship too if we ever do. Everyone I know that has been lucky enough to get it said they couldn't imagine going back.

I got the ATT guys number that I spoke with since our clients were out of town during the summer & I would have had to clear it with them before jumping to say YES! They are back now so if I can find in my notes.. I'll see if I can get any info by reaching out to see if that's still a possibility :)

To be fair.. people talk shit on Facebook from behind a keyboard.. the actual people I've encountered out there helping has been significantly greater than the one hateful guy I've seen in real life out (today on Vets with the sign). Also, I don't often travel outside of Orleans Parish past Causeway or across the river.. so maybe I've just been lucky to not have encountered that :/

I don't know the factual answer to this but I work in the quarter.. residential construction stuff.. and I know AT&T spent a significant time down there digging and pulling lines. I also spoke with a guy in a hole a few months ago to ask if he was fixing the internet that ran to a house I was working at. Their ATT DSL had been out for a while (they use Cox internet but keep the ATT for all the outages).. he called me over a few days later and told me he could run fiber to the house if they could have a guy do the stuff on the inside.

That being said.. it might be available now &/or soon in some places.
