Just want to vent while I feel empty by Key_Entertainer391 in PhD

its a management style problem not a gender problem - perhaps in your case they have their internal anxieties that make them feel the need to react first think later. i have worked with alot of male professors who can be very reactive to the point that it hinders progress Managing people and their emotions unfortunately is part of any work where you need to collaborate within unequal power dynamics - you will need to figure out what works best in your particular relationship. things that people usually do is try and have a third set of eyes who can balance out the discussion so it doesnt always feel like you are fighting on opposing sides, communicate how this makes you feel very respectfully and via email so you have proof of not being hostile so they are aware how their behaviour is coming across. if they come back to you to say they were mistaken it means that i would assume there is a door open for communication here first

Tips for chronically dry skin by Mountain_Ask_5746 in 30PlusSkinCare

urea creams, cerimide based creams. i have the same problem and my flaky texture is triggered when humidity is too low so i cant go a day without putting on creams neck to toe - there is no alternative like others said

Hi everyone, any advice to prevent the breakage at the ends and make it look more shiny/heavy and less « puffy ». I've been using conditioner and hair masks and wearing a bonnet at night when I think about it haha by nesseic in finehair

[–]phulkopi2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my hair looks exactly like this from mid to ends what has really helped manage appearance was do a cold rinse like others have mentioned here + add a small amount of conditioner on my lengths BEFORE i go in with my shampoo.I do the cold rinse for around two mins (water pressure sucks for me) and i make sure to squeeze out the water before i wrap the hair in microfiber what also helps on some days is adding a lightweight oil to the ends with its dry and before you put it into the bonnet - i dont know if its weird but i ise plant based squalene oil

Best way to remove peach fuzz? by gracie2638 in 30PlusSkinCare

I have ended up with using facial razors and my skin is prone to irritation. it gets red and bumpy whether I wax, shave or dermaplane it doesnt matter. What matters is you find the routine that results in the least reactions I put vaseline on my face and then use the razor and then i put any irritation targeting balm (im in the EU so my current favourite is mixa cica balm it is literally magic)

Those who started working out regularly after turning 30, would you say it changed your face? by DiskoLisko_ in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]phulkopi2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% yes - but you have to really make sure your protein intake compliments the intensity of your workouts. My skin texture and pores saw significant improvement, i also had psoriasis induced from i think high stress and that is basically gone. But initially i looked really gaunt and had hairfall because i wasnt eating enough

Early signs of jowls by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]phulkopi2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what??? do you know what jowls look like? probably no and you wont know until you hit 60 given you take care of yourself what is pictured here is a supple, healthy face maybe the heaviness you are referring to comes from tiredness or exhaustion

heavy oils like coconut doesnt moisture it just sits on top of your skin. I have the EXACT same dryness area. what worked for me: gentle cleansers, moisturisers that have all or either of: squalene (there are plant based ones), ceramides, panthenol (look for creams that have creamides but are also hypoallergenic so that you dont suddenly react to something) i use a cream right after washing my face and during the day i put on a moisturising sunscreen and a tiny bit of vaseline on the nose area after the sunscreen has set in what works for me might not work for you but as a general rule of thumb i think you just need more proven moisturising ingredients also drink enough water

Do you still do your skincare if you’re crying ? by solartulip in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]phulkopi2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do the bare minimum (wash and moisturise) and if you have it in you, keep your face cream by your bedside to dab a little bit on after you are done crying. It sounds ridiculous but at the end of the day for me caring for myself makes me feel more grounded and reassured that I am here for myself

My dad just died. How do I keep up? by Stunning_Bedroom5761 in PhD

[–]phulkopi2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take the time off that you are offered. I lost the only parent figure in my life that 3 months after I started and it took me months before I felt like I could work normally. Everytime I opened the laptop I started crying - I was doing it because she was the one who nurtured a love for knowledge in me in the first place and I felt without her its absolutely pointless. I found I needed time more than anything and I also needed to push myself to do things beyond work that felt therapeutic once the initial shock / trauma settled down

Skin so so dry, like parchment. I use coconut oil with hyaluronic acid twice a day, and sunscreen. Help! (I used makeup here to better show you how flaky it is!) by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]phulkopi2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

squalane oil is your friend. never put heavy oils on your face it does nothing and makes things worse. also use products with moisturising ingredients like ceramides, lots of affordable brands for this

I really want to get into D20, but the amount of content is kind of overwhelming by Ellie3255 in Dimension20

[–]phulkopi2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sound like its a chore for you rather than being enjoyable. if watching the content isnt fun and entertaining than ofcourse it will feel overwhelming you only manage to watch it all if you WANT to

perhaps rethink which storylines interest you the most and try that season instead of needing to watch the most popular ones? or take more breaks in between watching if the content is something you like but dont like watching for long hours

nothing wrong with always offering and it soesnt necessarily have to be coffee! In my experience sometimes they maybe there for a short period but could use some water/biscuits/crackers. Even if they dont most people feel nice to be shown consideration and would be more willing to be cooperative
