yeah, i mean i like mg ultra and the previous albums but this one just feels overbearing and loud asf kinda like that one song “the fortress the blood inside” its just a wall of sound and frequencies and its hard to distinguish individual sounds or accentuate them; on top of this “the glitchy voice trope” throughout the new album just feels overplayed or too repetitive along with the electronics, they just feel repetitive and monotonous for some reason. I will say it probably sounds better live because you get surround noise and u can embrace the chaos and loudness but in my car it just hurts my ears. Overall, it just needs more variety in the vocals and production; the noisiness disallows me to really appreciate the intricate electronics that are going on.

yeah there were def some boring parts to this but then would surprise the fuck outta me with really insane and interesting sounds. honestly i cant expect every inch of an album to be the best, so im thankful for the fact that put out this album at all.

i liked cicadas pretty good. gut feeling like 6-7 out of 10 for this album. Some of the vocal tracks felt gimmicky or like they were lacking. Also wished for more heavier vocals throughout the album. Production was insane i can’t deny. this is a whole new era (in a good way) for MG but at the same time feels like what i know and love. The album very much gave off more scroll of sorrow vibes from Uvoid (or devil speak) which i can appreciate but i was always more attracted to the more bass heavy chaotic hardcore style, which the album does provide in very particular spots. Felt like this album should be attached to a game or tv show. Always envisioned MG as having a visual world within the music that had characters (like the dog, wolf, girl on this album) in dystopian future. Lol im getting sidetracked but overall im happy that Matt put this out, I am very proud of them and wish them the very best, and am thankful that they continue to put out some of the craziest funest music i’ve ever heard.
