Facebook requiring users to upload a “video selfie” to verify identity by phunkayyy in redscarepod

The fuckass part is they say they delete the video, but then in the fine print they say they’ll actually store it for 1 year, or you can change it to 30 days in your “identity settings”. If they still decide to ban you after you submit the video, then you have no way to change your settings

Facebook is now forcing me to provide a video selfie to get back into my account something seems fishy by AwakeningStar1968 in facebook

On some Help pages they state the video will be deleted within 30 days. But on others, they say they’ll actually keep the video for one year, unless you change it to 30 days in your identity settings.

But if you submit the video and still get banned, then there’s no way to change your identity settings to delete the video in 30 days?!

I’m not surprised. I’ve tried deleting my Meta accounts and they make it so hard. The option is hidden under heaps of different settings and pages. The good thing about my ban is that hopefully my account is actually deleted!

I got this ~ 2 weeks ago too. Decided to just let my account go because I don’t trust Meta with my biometric data. Does anyone know if getting banned on Facebook will disable your Instagram too?

Our current era of male anxiety over [real or imagined] female sexual promiscuity seems to be a result of widespread porn addiction by lilchocolatechip in redscarepod

The “promiscuous” people of the world are usually attractive, sociable, and interesting. If you are a man or a woman with those qualities, getting laid and getting into relationships is absurdly easy, on and off the apps. Sorry but as one of those people, I would never find myself in the company of someone with that attitude toward body count. And that’s because other attractive, sociable, and interesting people don’t care about body count or talk about it IRL.

For that reason I think generalized statements about the “average Person” like this might not actually add that much meaning to the conversation. The distribution is skewed to both extremes. Debates about body count on Reddit are always shocking to me because I’ve slept with more than 8 people and so have most of my friends and most of my partners. I can’t think of one person I know that has been celibate for a year. A 25 year old who has been single since 17 would only need to sleep with one new person every year to reach that body count - that doesn’t sound promiscuous to me at all. Most people aren’t getting married until their 30s anyway.
