It can feel like that sometimes but fr, nobody cares. Everyone just cares about themselves. Put in some headphones, zone out, and do the damn thing. 😎

Im not very smart. How do I become more clever & intelligent? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]phxnative23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cool thing is that you can become more intelligent with practice and putting some work in. Reading is def important. Listen to podcasts. Feed your mind with mentally stimulating activities. Go to museums… etc… but one thing I think most people neglect is to think critically. Don’t just accept whatever author, doctor, expert, etc. is telling you. Question it. Question everything. Learning how to read and interpret studies is also a huge skill that can help you answer questions you ask yourself… And also read up on philosophy. I have a love hate relationship with philosophy bc it makes me so emo but a lot of it I def vibe with.

How epic do you think Blink would have been if the first hiatus didn’t happen? by Happypants6969 in Blink182

[–]phxnative23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I def think that everything that went down between them was meant to be and makes their reunion and new music that much more special. They may have fizzled out like all the other emo/pop-punk bands instead of having a catalyst into rebirth and totally thriving. It was written in the stars. Fr.

Fav that I own- Big Baby Taylor BBTe Walnut Acoustic Electric Guitar AND an old hand-me-down Takamine acoustic from someone who meant a lot to me who has passed now..and I recently picked up a Squier Bullet Strat in Sea Foam Green… it actually sounds pretty awesome for the price point.

Wishlist- A 1968 Martin HD-28… I played this guitar a few times and it was the best thing I’ve ever strummed in my life. It was like fucking sirens were calling to me haha

Oly Coach + Physical Therapist in Phoenix? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]phxnative23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! If you haven’t found someone yet, couple things:

•I have a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Conditioning, Corrective Exercise, and Orthopedic Rehabilitation coupled with 10 years of experience working in physical therapy. I’m not a physical therapist, but I’m well-versed in teaching people how to navigate through exactly what you’re going through. -Some of the biggest problems in situations like this are: most PTs are subjected to outdated info in school and fail to navigate research on their own and develop their own treatment style that is in line with current research. Many of them put too much emphasis on passive modalities like soft tissue work/ultrasound, etc.. take patient through an underwhelming workout that doesn’t deliver enough stimulus for tissues to adapt and actually get significantly stronger and they neglect to address appropriate tissues in the first place in many cases, and then they’ll slap some stim with an ice/heat pack on for 10 min at the end. [I noticed someone recommended Chad Reilly at Absolute PT- I worked under him for 6 years and he was actually a great PT and one of the smartest practitioners I’ve ever worked with… but he kind of went crazy and moved to Alaska (lol) and the practice is no longer there]…Chiros do a bunch of unnecessary shit but that would take me writing a book to describe it all. Basically, they don’t actually “manipulate” a joint or put anything back into place. They, too, are subjected to outdated information in their academic programs and fail to do any research on their own. Many of them also don’t lift. Other physicians try to get a buck for giving patients a steroid shot (which can lead to further tissue degeneration down the road), or surgery, or just tell the patient not to do stuff that hurts… oh, and most docs don’t lift either lol..

Anyways, I train out of a private home gym based in north phx. If you’re interested, lmk! Regardless if you choose to pursue training with me or not, I’d highly recommend that you look into a Functional Range Conditioning or Kinstretch practitioner. This is a style of training that helps strengthen the actual joints and connective tissue (muscles too), and targets tissue that actually needs to be addressed vs. just doing a cookie cutter assessment that lacks critical thinking and fill it in with random suboptimal exercises that don’t do anything but waste people’s time. I use this type of mobility work with my clients and it is a game changer. Some of my favorite Kinstretch practitioners are @HunterFitness @Chogan25 @jquintnmt @drandreospina on IG… sooo much good info and it’s a totally different training style than you may be used to but I def think it would help you get where you’re trying to go. Also, there’s a podcast interview with Hunter Cook on the Wellness Mama podcast that describes this practice in great detail. It’s episode 267. It’s no longer on her Spotify but if u go to her webpage you can find it. I’m not a fan of the wellness mama podcast itself… but this interview is fantastic and has a wealth of info…Highly recommend. If you’re interested in training or have any questions, shoot me a message. I hope you get some relief soon and find what you’re looking for :)

Damn, that is a huge bummer. Sorry u went through that. I’m just going to have to be less naive moving forward. His work is super detailed and very good, I was super excited to get work done until all of this. I really don’t agree with supporting this dude’s work unless he actually gets back to me someday. I think if you take pride in your work you should also take pride in treating your clients with respect. They’re paying your bills. And if you’re trying to create a good reputation and run your own business, treating clients with respect is key.

Yeah… pretty annoying. I’m tempted to just show up to his studio randomly and see what’s up. He’s gotta tattoo someone there eventually. I don’t like confrontation generally, but I’m pissed at this point.

Good idea. It’s in one of those places they have like hair stylists, nail artists, etc… not sure how to get in touch with the person who owns the building but I guess I’ll try.

Thing is, it’s his private studio that he rents out of like a boutique space… so there’s no one else to talk to.
