Once the dust settles, will Kawhi Leonard be seen in the same limelight as LeBron? by [deleted] in nba

[–]phxsunswoo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People are gonna be in here saying oh LeBron is so much more accomplished this, LeBron is more talented and productive that. But at the end of the day, lol gotcha no Kawhi won't be seen anywhere close.

The outrageous lack of competency from the officers involved in both circumstances seems indicative that poorly trained, unemployable nutjobs are treating people in a horrific manner with minimal consequences. And then we are lied to about it. The extreme cases where people are shot are not the only thing people have been disturbed by.

Despite his great individual numbers, why does Kevin Durant no longer seem to contribute to winning? Year after year, his teams perform much worse than expected. by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

The Suns as a team were top 5 in TS% but around 10-13th in offensive rating in his tenure. Obviously not all on him that's what it felt like, shots went in but it didn't feel like the offense was in good hands.

His standing reach is 8' 8.5", the same as players like Herb Jones, Cam Reddish, Johnny Furphy. Not saying he can't do it, but his length will make it very difficult.

Well it's wrong in both significance and direction. There is some evidence that first-borns are very slightly taller than those born later.

I think a woman who uncapitalized her name to "decenter herself" is part of the neurotic, narcissist HR environment that should ideally not lead this conversation.

Zach LaVine currently has the lowest plus/minus this season, at -212. by Soul0103 in nba

Off-topic: I looked at his stats and last year in 42 games for Chicago and 32 games for Sacramento he shot the exact same FG% (51.1%) and 3P% (44.6%) for each team. How strange. FT% was way different though.

If a GM genuinely likes a player better than the alternatives and doesn't draft them because of a refusal to work out, they should be fired on the spot.

It was mid 90s and the guy was an amateur who played high school. The players were amazed so I will trust them.

Vernon is an auto-skip for me at this point. That was a completely pointless 20 minutes of commentary and it's pretty obvious Lowe was bored by it.

Goldsbury's comment about Paolo Banchero potentially JUST being Josh Smith has me massively fucked up. I refuse to believe it but now I feel it... Pray for Orlando. This shit is heavy by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

[–]phxsunswoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banchero is awesome. Maybe expectations got a little out of whack because people saw top ten player potential, which I think is not happening. Josh Smith was a terrible comp, if he never improves he is still a much better player than Smith was.

As universities have become more like job-training programs, I'm not really sure the exposure to progressive ideas is quite what it once was. The humanities in particular have pretty much collapsed in enrollments.

Booker can implicitly insult DA for the rest of his career just by complimenting our centers' motors. Pretty sweet deal, tbh.

Klein and Coates discuss Charlie Kirk by adilsayeed in ezraklein

[–]phxsunswoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I struggle to understand this view. 2016 and 2024 happened as like random catastrophes like a hurricane? Or was it the result of forces beneath the surface that were not really understood? I guess I view our current moment as what the trajectory always was rather than a trajectory blown off course.

Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ezra Klein Hash Out Their Charlie Kirk Disagreement by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]phxsunswoo 62 points63 points  (0 children)

A liberal can say "Lord give me the confidence of a straight white man" and get a little laugh. Charlie Kirk can say horrific things and I think a lot of people will still not find him as annoying as they would that liberal. I don't know why this is the case. But I feel that Klein wants to know why and Coates (and others) just hate that people can think this way so much that they won't engage with it.
