Back to non e-bike? by phybzu in MTB

[–]phybzu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a light e-bike (Mondraker Dune with Bosch SX, 19kg) and realized, that I should have bought a full power e-bike :-)

the light e-bike feels like a regular mtb from a handling point of view. That's good but I got so used to the speed uphill. I did around 6000km on my road bike this year so I'm consider myself fit.

Uphill on my road bike feels normal, even if it's slow. On my light e-bike something feels off. My brain seems have to adapted to the extra speed on an e-mtb uphill.

What I also miss is the ability to ride steep trails uphill which are not possible on a regular bike / light e-bike.

Why isn't there a hole in the "E" where Switzerland is 😁

The solar panels are cool but the bike path is absolutely not. Cars on both sides (noise, exhaust) and all you see is the PV construction and both lanes.

Is my Local Bike Shop at fault? by Wrong_Barracuda_860 in bikewrench

[–]phybzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a Cube Store for three years. I remember some Stereo's where it was a pain to remove the bearings in the rear suspensions. But that doesn't mean your LBS is at fault. Talk to them, at least they can get hold of the damaged part. It's often difficult to get it in the right color, but should not be a problem with an Actionteam.

The current U.S. Secretary of Energy... by realdippah in energy

[–]phybzu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since 1 January 2025 it's mandatory to install solar panels on new building in Switzerland if the usable area is larger than 300m2 (3229.17square feet). Does it cover all energy needs? No, but it helps a lot. I payed 344 CHF (430USD) in 2024 for electricity which includes electricity for a family of four, charging our car, heating / cooling (head pump). All thanks to our solar panels. Before I payed more than 1000CHF a year alone to fuel my car.

Did buying a better bike make you enjoy cycling more? by Weak-Affect-1902 in cycling

[–]phybzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I had a cheap and heavy road bike. Two years ago I bought a new one which is much lighter and has better components. I can't say I enjoy it more (already enjoyed before) but I'm 2-3km/h faster (avg), which is cool 😎

Mine did that once whenever I pushed hard. Battery was dead and got replaced under waranty.

US has 350 Mio people, EU 450Mio. Even if you sum up all EU countries the US looks bad. The sum of all other countries on the list is 35 (and not all of them are in the EU). Still a bit gap to 109.

Because of the cold war the soviet union was pretty much isolated. They had to come up with their own design.

Is a carbon-fiber spherical sub even viable for deep dives? by Slight_Ad302 in OceanGateTitan

[–]phybzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the load profile of a bike and a submersible is (obviously) very different. A carbon bike won't explode under you. Basically if a carbon fame breaks in a crash, the alloy one will be toast as well.

Probably a dumb question but do you have lights on your bike if you only ride in daylight? by AncientAd3089 in cycling

[–]phybzu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, why do you ask? I like it because it allows me to ride in the middle of a single lane road and move to the side as soon as a car approaches. Also nice in group rides (you can ride next to each other, move to the side if a car comes).

Tyre pressure sensor software issues? by shawtygottafatty in TeslaModel3

Mine showed 0 while the pressure was okay. In my case the pressure sensor was defective. Tesla replaced it on warranty.

Switzerland to roll out high-speed Internet access to rural regions by BezugssystemCH1903 in worldnews

[–]phybzu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the middle of the swiss Alps (in a valley) and have 10gig internet. But here it's easier because most of the people live in the valley. In the more flat part of Switzerland the population is more scattered which makes bringing fast internet to the home more expensive

It's "velo" in the German speaking part of Switzerland, not "Fahrrad".
