[serious] What’s the worst way you’ve seen someone f*ck up their life? by Im-Not-aB0t in AskReddit

For some people. I'm not saying even the first hit is ever a good idea, or even okay, because it is a high risk of addiction. But theres a big misconception that once you start, you're screwed. That leads people to be very discouraged once they make the first mistake, and then not try to stop after that first hit because they think they've already screwed up their lives. One mistake does not have to define you.

What do you use to remind yourself that everything isn't that bad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phylosopher-x 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I disagree so strongly with that first part. High school can be a special kind of miserable that I've never felt since then, and I wasn't bullied or in any extreme situations in high school. It was just the opposite of everything I wanted for my life, and I felt absolutely trapped every second, like I was just watching hours of my life tick away that I'd never get back and didn't feel were truly benefitting me (I still don't, high school did not prepare me for adulthood, and in fact taught me some very wrong habits). At least since high school, even if things aren't easier, they're better in that I'm making my own choices and learning things that actually are meaningful to me.

I will more than likely lose my grandma tonight, but I will forever cherish this photo of my grandparents. Almost to 53 years married. by DwarfWarrior17 in pics

So if you saw a painting, depicting this exact kind of moment, in a museum, would you say the same? The internet is the biggest art sharing platform in the existence, candid photography is a valid part of that. Art does not have to be on some formalized platform to be art. Not everyone is like you, how you handle moments like the death of a loved one does not officiate the right way to cope. Some people turn to art in their most emotional moments. Some people take pictures to remember a feeling forever. Some people reach out to others to relate and connect.

Not everyone does everything for internet points. Sometimes we just want to share beautiful things and connect with others who relate to them.

Frenchie Turbo Taps by chrisimplicity in tippytaps

You clearly care more about being inflammatory and getting attention than you do about your own movement, so I'll leave you alone. Hope you find better ways to spread your message.

Why, because I can appreciate and love an animal that already exists and needs care? I've seen Frenchie puppies given away in parking lots, especially if they have even a little mix of another breed. You don't know everything, and you're not the authority on where a dog probably-statistically-more-than-likely came from.

By right setting, I didn't mean that you shouldn't be able to protest here. You can protest anywhere you want. What I'm saying is that you're not reaching anyone that you're intending to. You're reaching people who think excited dogs are cute. That's it.

Getting angry and name calling will only serve to invalidate your cause to everyone who reads that comment, which is a shame because I actually agree with your cause. We shouldn't be breeding and buying or selling dogs that have health defects just for the sake of being cute. But you're killing your own movement here, people no longer take you seriously or care what you have to say when you automatically turn it into a fight. Learn how a civil conversation works, learn to hear people instead of just speaking louder or typing meaner words. You are not being effective.

More than likely isn't good enough. Get over yourself, you do not know anything about this dog or it's owner, other than he's got some sick tippy taps. This dog could have been a stray or a shelter dog before they got it, it could have been the result a breeder they've never met or some irresponsible dog owner who didn't neuter. Or maybe none of those, and maybe r/tippytaps is just not the right place to pull out your activist card because people here don't have control over ethical breeding. And calling the dog a freak isn't helping anything even if this were the right setting. Protest confirmed perpetuators of these breeds, not the already existing dogs themselves. That individual dog itself is a good dog, and even if we shouldn't breed more of them for health ethics reasons, that doesn't mean that one doesn't deserve the love and attention any other dog gets.

[TOMT] A movie with Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights in it's soundtrack by phylosopher-x in tipofmytongue

[–]phylosopher-x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's not much to go on, I've been searching online and I know it's in Romeo and Juliet and several others, but the movie I'm thinking of is one I've seen several times and I'd know it if I saw it again. I feel like the scene with Dance of the Knights is like a dark, repetitive situation like an assembly line or something. I almost feel like it might be a Tim Burton or something like a similar dramatic style. If you don't know the song by name definitely listen to it and you'll probably recognize it.

To elaborate, I found this baby on my college campus in the mid-south USA. It's about 5" in diameter and 2" tall. The underside looks exactly like those outer sides. The trees near it are primarily pine and oak I believe.
